Post subject:  Brushed VS Polished
Another discussion that needs to be explored here is the Brushed VS Polished Breitlings. When I had the GT it was the GT Racing and I NEVER liked the brushed portion of the watch, Breitling refers to the brushed look as "Satin" finish. I knew that I could get the GT all polished out whenever I wanted and was planning on it so it didn't really bother me but this is one thing I don't like about the Bentley Motors T. The Motors T has a cool bezel but that half brushed look is on the same lines as wearing a Breitling with a leather band. Breitlings are gorgeous watches that need to be displayed with ALL surfaces highly polished on Gold or Steel bracelets. I suppose some "trendy" guy's that wear unpleated "flat front" slacks or jeans with a sport coat would like them. I have a friend that has a Hercules and he dresses like a Maytag Repair Man so for him the brushed look is fine. The Hercules is a great looking watch but that BRUSHED look ruins the elegance of it. I have found that people like my friend with the Hercules who prefer the brushed look suffer from a disease I called eleg-o-phobia or FEAR OF ELEGANCE. This guy doesn't feel comfortable in fine all alligator dress shoes either that's why he has a brushed Breitling Hercules. The guy is 50 years old and shops at Banana Republic so we have to consider the source here and give him a break but let's get some opinions on the brushed VS polished look. And ADMIN I was surprised when you said you liked the Motors T because up until now you seem to understand CLASSY Breitlings. Many times if you have just looked on the Breitling website at the Motors T or GT Racing you don't realize what the real deal is with that Brushed look until you see one in person. When you take something like a Breitling and add the brushed surfaces you have just taken a beautiful work of elegant art and added a "PATCH OF DENIM" to it. Or it could also be called kind of a "Swiss Army" look.

haha i see your point, polished is classier generally, but I like the offset of the brushed bezels, and I like the two-tone brushed and polished bracelets. I like the all-polished bracelets as well, but I do like both. As far as having a watched polished or brushed, its not a big deal to me unless the watch is all brushed... like the Crosswind Racing. I do not like the all-brushed look that much, but hey, if ALL my Brietlings are polished, its nice to have a brushed one as well for those times. When I want a watch for a classy situation I typically wear a more understated breitling such as the Cockpit, Wings Auto or my Sinn 6100. That's my personal style.

I like my dress pants unpleated, because pleats make my ass look big, when it is not big.

I also like to keep at least one watch on leather around.. because sometimes it comes in handy. ;)

That's OK I have decided from your replies thus far that although you need guidance you are a really good guy. So I want you to know that I am here to counsel you on these matters. It took me a long time to get where I am and I was fortunate enough to have older wiser men counsel me too. I promise that if you accept my help we will have you participating in a cermony where you will burn the leather band along with the flat fronts and you will be wearing nothing but polished Breitlings and pleated Zanella Bennet slacks. With my help this can happen before you can say BRUSHED HERCULES !

I was just at the local AD today, checking out a Cockpit. This one has the Grey (or granite) dial, with the stell bracelet. The body of the watch and the bracelet are polished, but the bezel is the satin finish. Now in my opinion, the satin or brused bezel really brought the grey dial and the polished body and bracelet together well. I don't really care for a watch with entirely brushed stainless, but a combo of the two can look great, as in the case of the Cockpit. My SuperOcean is polished with a black dial, and it looks fantastic when it's all cleaned up.

I like the polished look. Just stands out and makes the rest of the piece look great, however some pieces look great with the brushed look.

With the polished look, I think it's a little tougher to maintain. I like to keep them scratch free! The brushed look is a little more forgiving in my opinion.

As for brushed as opposed to polished, I like both for different reasons. The brushed is easier to maintain and would be better for an all rounder daily watch, the polished with a colorfull dial is much more stricking and is blingtastic fer sure. To each his own I say.

Altair,

My new Cohiba's are great but I need to get off the Tubes (cigarettes) I really want to drop the tubes and just have a couple of Logs (cigars) per day. I don't inhale Logs. Quitting Tubes at my age is VERY DIFFICULT
