Post subject:  Snowbirds Edition Service Question

Currently, the watch loses a few minutes every 10 to 14 days less than 5 mins in total or at the most 5 mins period. The last time that it was sent to Breitling USA for any service and incidently it was a complete overhaul was in May 2000. However, the watch spent several years in the box not worn (atleast 4 maybe 5 years).

As a result I am well aware that the watch is over-due for another complete overhaul at Breitling USA; however, currently I do not have the $520.00 that it requires due to the fact that I have another Breitling on layaway - a Navitimer Chronomatic 2006 - 2008 production. Henceforth, for the time being I can live with the watch losing time and adjust it accordingly every 10 to 14 days if I were to wear it.

However, would I be inflicting damage to the movement due to perhaps the oils have coagulated and/or form gunk and be stripping the gears or any other type of damage if I were to wear the watch?

Or should I just put it away until I have the money to send it to Breitling USA for a complete overhaul?

Thank You In Advance For Your Responses!!!

Best Regards,

Enezdez

I wouldn't run any watch that had been sitting unused for that amount of time. The oils have likely broken down and are not providing the required lubrication. There will definitely be a significantly increased likelihood of damage through increased wear, especially on non jewelled parts.

If you aren't going to be getting it serviced then I would put it away and have it serviced before using it again.

Thanks for responding Roffensian!

Ok I wish I would of known that 9 months ago - as I have been wearing it everyday for the past nine months - but I will put it away now!
And have it service after I pick up the other watch - hopefully there isnt any damage to it!

Best Regards,
