saw admin's video review and i was very impressed with the watch! the 42mm size might be off-putting for some but my wrist is under 7in so it would not be a problem there. been doing archival searches here and at other sites but seems like this watch is not out there that much? :?:

i was contemplating a gmt ceramic and just wondering if it's worth it to put out more money for the breitling...i tried the C at a local AD and liked it very much also...it wore bigger than 40mm (felt kinda like my navitimer tbh sizewise).

I have a Mark VI Complications 19 - viewtopic.php?f=5&t=5575

I love it, I have almost 8 inch wrists but don't find that it is too small at all.

I have the Complication 19 as well, and I really love it. And concerning the size, I would count myself to the "fatter" half of the population and don't think, its too small.

I have to admitt, that the Complication 19 is not a big seller, as we have not sold any in the store yet, but we have sold a few of the "normal" ones already and the buyers are very happy with them.

yup Andrew M was saying to me they dont sell is his store either he will sell one soon when i buy one.

i think it has to do with the stupid plat bezel riding the price up.

would rather not have the plat bezel and save a few K!!

While I think the Mark VI Complications 19 a great looking watch (if a little small for my personal tastes) I really don't see the point in having the platinum bezel either. At least with a gold bezel can see the difference, but platinum looks awfully like steel to me. And while 950 platinum is harder than gold it's still softer than steel, so you get all the look of steel at a much higher cost, but with reduced performance when it comes to scratches. :?

But as I say, I'm not remotely taking anything away from the Complications 19 - it's a fine looking watch.

Completely agree - I got a great deal (doubtless in part because it's not a great seller), but the platinum bezel is totally pointless. But then I also don't understand white gold watches.

I'm with you 100% on that one too. At least with platinum you don't tend to lose much metal when you polish it - apparently the metal is predominantly just "moved around" rather than rubbed away - but with gold, you actually lose quite a bit of metal over time through polishing. White gold is totally lost on me - it's soft, reasonably expensive and looks very much like steel. :huh

Personally, (and this is something I'm actually very pleased about from a financial perspective!) I have no real desire to own precious metal watches - which is a great thing as it's likely to mean I'll never be "forced" to spend over £15K on a watch! :D I would quite like a TT piece, and I'd probably like to own one solid rose or red gold watch at some point in my life, but generally I infinitely prefer steel.

wow nothing too fancy with all the complications  , just looking for a regular model. i do agree the platinum bezel add nothing (except $$$)...cut that out and slash the price a bit and we'd probably have more owners responses in this thread.

I actually think the platinum bezel gives it a little more sparkle. It's a subtle but real effect. Whether that is worth the extra cost is of course personal preference.

I am sort of with you on the white gold, though. So you take gold, a precious metal, then coat it to make it look like not gold and not a precious metal. You combine all of the material disadvantages of gold and all of the cost disadvantages of gold with the look of stainless steel. Sounds like a winning strategy.

In fairness, I will admit that one can argue that since you the owner know it is gold, then who cares what everyone else thinks it is. (Certainly, most of us wear watches for this same reason...we know what it is and don't much care if anyone else does). And of course we all buy watches that are way more expensive and much higher maintenance than a $20 model at the drugstore...

I completely agree with your comment, but the reason I'd personally buy something in gold is because I like the colour of it. With white gold, yes I'd know it was gold (and I'd certainly never feel the need to tell people what it is), but everytime I looked at it, I'd just see something that looked like steel, but I'd be even more paranoid about scratches and damage. Like we both said, white gold has all the look of steel and none of the practicality.

see while i agree with all the comments re the disadvantages of gold id still buy white over yellow as i dont like yellow gold on me.

having said that if the watch i wanted only came in precious metals i wouldnt buy gold id buy plat.

I agree with you about yellow gold, but I really like the look of rose and red gold, so that would be my choice. The only thing I really like about platinum is the weight. It's so heavy and as a result gives a real "heft" to a piece.

With you on rose / pink / red gold - I have a real weakness there.

The platinum weight may be something to do with it's use on the Mark VI - it would be a relative lightweight without it (for the Bentley range).
