Post subject:  50th Anniv Navi Questions

I just got this time-piece last week & I simply love the 50th Anniversay Navitimer, although at times it is difficult to see the sub-dials & the date due to what I believe is the glare of the silver dial. I really wanted a black dial but was not able to find one. I only found the one I bought and a white gold piece and that too had a silver-dial. Since I got it pre-owned from Tourneau, I do not have any of the original papers or box. Breitling USA will not provide copies either. As a result I have a few questions:

1. Is there a way of obtaining the original box? Or is it possible just to buy a "Real" Breitling box?
2. Is there a way of obtaining even a photo-copy of the original paper work i.e manual, slide rule instructions, or the COSC certificate?
3. I thought the Sapphire crystal had properties that prevented glare? Why do I have difficulties seeing the sub-dials, date & most of the other numerations at times? When outside and it's bright and sunny that's when it's best to view the fine details of the silver dial most of the time - lol.
4. The date changes at 11:55 pm every night is that ok or can it be adjusted to change at midnight or am I just being to picky now? lol

Thank You In Advance For Your Replys,

Enezdez

Hello enezdez,

congratulation to Your purchase, here a few answers:

1. You can try on ebay, but the chance, You will buy a fake is very high. No AD will give or sell You a box without a watch. They simply don't get them themselfs.

2. Again try the internet for the instructions, the COSC-certificate can be obtained by any AD, preferebly the one, who sold the watch. Of course, they will take some money from You.

3. The anti glare coating does not work under all circumstances. But still, when You compare it to a watch without it, it is a lot better. Also the shiny silver dial of that watch makes the situation a little bit worse. The readability with a black dial is usually a lot better.

4. That is normal. The datechange occurs on this movement somewhen between 11 and 2. Theoretically it can be adjusted, but its a lot of effort and no watchcompany would cover it by warranty.

All good answers from Alien (as you'd expect from an AD!), but my AD did actually give me a Breitling box once free of charge when I accidentally damaged one of mine. However it's worth noting that I have been going to them for over 10 years so that will deifnitely have soemthinig to do with it!

If you have an existing relationship with an AD, then there's no harm in asking them. If not..... well, eBay is your best bet. But check with us on here first if you are at all unsure if it's real or not.

.....................and just to add to that, a UK national chain authorised dealer once sold me a complete box for a Colt I owned after seeing the watch, so it's not impossible to pick one up other than Ebay.

Thank you all very much for your prompt response to my posting guys! :D

Alien since I have a Breitling Navitimer Chronomatic (2006 - 2008 production) on layway with the same AD - i will try to get a "Real" Breitling Box and the COSC Certificate as a freebie -lol. If not I will settle for a Breitling Poket Knife or Pen with the COSC Certificate. LMAO

Since I was expecting a similar answer to yours in regards to the glare issue and the silver dial - I have already begun to succumb to the notion that it's part of this timepiece charm.

I guess I was being to picky wanting the date to change at exactly midnight, still way better than a Jeager Le Coultre - Master Date (I use to have) tho!!! LMAO

This is my second attempt trying to post a reply - hope it works this time!

Best Regards To All,

Enezdez
