So
I always loved watches, I have some watches (even nice some) like Seiko, G shock, Citizen Auto Zilla, IWC and so on
But I have never thought as Breitling as a good brand :? , and I don't know why but for the last few weeks after reading some more about it, and the history and so on, I have come to love more and more the brand also the fact that I can see and test the watches on local AD's here in Israel is sure a good thing - I prefer it over buying from the WWW with out putting it on my wrist first (like Doxa ie).

So, Yeah I know it is a Breitling forum, but still - how good is a Breitling watch? and how good value is it ?
I am interested in an auto movement only (don't like quartz)
And I want a "tough" looking watch, so I prefer some thing from the aeromarine series
I was thinking about the Chrono Avenger as a very nice chrono watch, or the Avenger Seawolf as more of a "tool" diving watch (I love the YELLOW color, what do you think about it?)
or the SuperOcean (steel fish or usually one)
What do you think of this list ? how good are they and what do you recommand me ?
I have a "not small" wrist (7.25") and used to large watches, so all of the above are quite large, but I think I prefer the Seawolf the best, but not sure about it due to his thickness (have no problem with the size, just the thickness), and afraid of the TI getting to much scratches, also I love the yellow, but I want a watch that I can wear both as a daily watch, and both for sport, diving, GYM and even going out with it to a nice pub or some thing like that

Hope I haven't written to much for you ;)
I will much thank you for the help :)

Hello and welcome aboard!

Quick answers to your questions -

Firstly we are all BIG Breitling fans here so we will all tell you that Breitlings are simply brilliant!! In all seriousness, I think Breitlings are pretty good value considering the quality you are getting. I tend to think that Omega are possibly slightly better value in monetary terms (although the new Co-Axial watches are very expensive for what they are), but Breitling has that little extra something that Omega doesn't.

Thats a good list of watches you mention there -

Chrono Avenger - Good watch but a little too understated for my taste. It's also discontinued now, so if you want one brand new then snap one up soon. Titanium is not my favourite metal due to it's light "cheap" feel and it is more prone to scratches.

Avenger Seawolf - I really like this watch, especially in yellow, but the titanium puts me off again. It is very "tool", but all the cooler for that. Height of the case is something you just get used to, but it probably won't slip under a long sleeve shirt cuff too easily!

Superocean - Doesn't have the presence it once did now that larger watches have come along. Not a big fan of the dial markings either. made of steel though, which is good!

Steelfish - IMO this is the one to have. It's made of steel and is big without being too big, and it's a good hybrid of a tool watch and something you can easily wear with a suit. In fact I liked it so much I bought one!

One other option you have if you like the look of the Chrono Avenger, but want a steel case, is the new Skyland. (Basically it's a steel CA). Good luck!

Hi BreitEdi,

Welcome to the forum. The best advice is go to your local AD and try all the models on and find one that you like the feel and look of, IMHO it will be down to your own personal preferance in the end.
As driver8 said he doesn't like the feel or weight of Ti where as i on the other hand love it! Yes there are a few scratches on mine but i wouldn't change it!
Here's mine, and what ever one you get you will not be disappointed

WOW
I sure love the TI seawolf

But I have some reasons to be afraid of buying it

1)height of it (I guess it will be hard wearing it with a suite ?!)

2)COLOR - I love the yellow of it, but isn't it to bold for a daily wear ? can you go out with it to work or you use it only for diving and sport ?

Other than this two - I really love it :)

IMHO the Super Avenger is way, WAY too big. Really heavy, too much metal going on, and I think it's just large for large's sake. (i.e. it's not because it is water resistant to any great depth thus requiring great strength or anything, etc. 300m is quite an average depth these days). But that's just my opinion and a lot of the guys on here love them. As Ling Man will no doubt say, you do get a lot of watch for your money, but for me in this instance less is definitely more!

Thankyou for the comments, yes it is a fairly tall, for the want of a better word, watch but i have worn it with double cuff shirts and had no problem, you will get used to it, but most of the watches you spoke about are 15 - 18mm thick.
Yes it is a bold colour and i don't wear it to work as it would get damaged but i do wear it when i get in and at the week ends, because it's so light you hardly know it's there! When i wear it out i always get alot of comments ranging from "nice watch to flash git!"

Why not?

No, it's not too big.

Get the FULL LING.

The Super Avenger is a great choice. It has lots of flash, and lots of class in my opinion. It's very functional, and a great looking piece. Well worth the money.

The problem I didn't see it on my AD
Also, do you have some photos of it ?
And, isn't it to heavy as for being steel only ?

No i don't wear it for work, granted it could stand some abuse but i have a "work" watch that cost £11.99  that i don't mind losing, knocking, scratching and it's a bit more practical :D but when i do dive i wear it and i've had no probs it's a great time piece.

BreitEdi,

This is very easy GET THE SUPER AVENGER ! Other guy's on this board will tell you as well as myself that it's the way to go especially if it's one of your first Lings. If you don't get it and get something smaller you will find out later you wanted it anyway so just save yourself the trouble and expense and get it first.

Lol sounds as though you are calling a super hero  Haven't they stopped producing the super avenger now? What is the difference between that and the Crono apart from the size?

I think that CA is only titanium made, according to 04-05 models.

Bnewbie is correct. The CA is titanium and a bit smaller that the SA. That's why I like the Skyland. It's basically a steel CA, which is pretty much spot on in my book!
