Hello folks,

I did post this on introductions, but I think it's better suited here, as the experience I had is noteworthy to all Breitling customers.

I got my first and only high-end watch this week, and I chose a Breitling. I want everyone to know I used this website more than any other when coming to my decision, and I want to thank you all for that. I've been saving hard, I'm not a particularly big earner, and I was planning on spending about £1500, but I was seduced by the Blackbird (brushed finish). My fabulous girlfriend convinced me that I'd be unhappy if I settled for something which wasn't perfect. She's right; £1500 on something which I wouldn't be happy with would have been a waste.

I bought it from Mallory of Bath. They were wonderful and I'm pleased with the deal I got. The watch had a price tag of $4615. I took it away for £4000 (about 15%), and a voucher for my first overhaul in 5 years which, I'm told, has a value of £280. Not too bad, especially as there's a price increase round the corner.

I also want everyone to know that Mallory have been awesome. The watch I took away on Thursday had a fault; the second-hand on the right-hand sub dial was jerky and sticky. The girlfriend took it back on Saturday (I was working), where they gave her a coffee, a new Blackbird and a bottle of champagne. Rob Gough, the watch manager, phoned me a work to tell me I had a new watch on the way. Girlfriend texted me and told me she sold the watch to a tramp for five pounds. I'm wearing it now, so she was only joking. Bless her.

Nice to hear some good purchasing experiences from this country for a change. Sounds like they dealt with the faulty watch quickly as well, and in a very nice manor. Mind you within 7 days, the choice is yours, money back or whatever you want.

Sounds like you got a good deal there, 15% off is pretty much unheard of in the UK

So let me be the first to ask for pics

Yes lets see some pics. I'm interested in that model with the brushed finish and want to see some good wrist shots

Excellent (and I love Bath too!).

Glad you had a good experience and wish you many years of enjoyment with your new Blackbird.

BTW - keep hold of your girlfriend, she sounds great! Perhaps I could pass on my Wifes mobile number and your girlfriend can call her and have a chat

I am really feeling quite envious as I haven't had a new watch in over a year - withdrawal is in it's later stages!

:welcome: to the forum

I had a nose around in Mallory's a few months back, I was very impressed with their friendly attitude and knowledge.

Excellent story but Bath is a bit far for me :)

I will do some wrist shots, but I expect they'll be mediocre at best! I'll post them on a new thread.

Before we organise that, I should mention that she's psyching herself up to spend an unholy amount of money on a new shotgun.

Mellow Yellow,

This is a great post!!!

They not only resolved your issue, gave a little something for the inconvenience and followup call from the manager to top things off!! I know a number of dealers not exclusive to watches that can learn a thing or two from this :poke: .

Congrats again!!!
