This 2003 Aerospace is running approx 3 secs a month fast. Is this ok & normal???
It doesn't bother me, I've been wearing automatics for such a long time, and just thought a quartz would be pretty much bang on.

On a Chronometer rated super-quartz model like yours, 3 seconds a month is OK. The tolerance for COSC rated quartz is no more than +/-0.2 seconds per day, which at the outside is 6 secs per month. Yours is within tolerance, although it's worth noting that a lot of guys report a variance of less than 10 secs PER YEAR! If it bothers you it might be worth getting it looked at to see if it can be improved, but as I say it's within tolerance.

I believe Breitling's superquartz compensated movement is to be within 15sec/year in order to be certified or .04 sec/day. Your watch is not within the specs, it most likely just needs a check up.

COSC specs are misleading for quartz.

+ / - 0.2 seconds a day applies only for the +8 celsius and +38 celsius tests, for +23 it's + / - 0.07 seconds.

A thermo compensated quartz watch should be capable of accuracy to + / - 10 seconds per year, although Breitling actually claims 20 seconds per year.

Either way, I would get it checked out.

Interesting. Not being a quartz guru I'd always assumed the +/-0.2 secs was the mean daily average, not just at specific temperatures. I stand corrected.

I would get it checked out as said above. I have had my Aerospace since November, and I just adjusted it the other day for the first time. In six months, it was only 1.5 seconds off total.

My quartz Tissot worth 300 EUR runs approx. 1 second a month fast. After reading this, I like it even better! Excellent quality watches, these Tissots, not even COSC certified! :)
