I've decided that after parting company with my Rolex, I'm going to take the opportunity to get hold of one of the Professional range Breitlings as I've been procrastinating about getting another B too long!

Narrowed it down to either an Airwolf or a B-1 (I've found a brand new B-1 for sale at a jewellers), but I can't decide which. So thought I'd canvas opinion from you guys.......

Incidentally the cost is about the same as the B-1 is only available on a strap, so I'd need to swap that out for a bracelet, which then brings it up to a similar price to the Airwolf which is already on a bracelet. I know the movement and hence the functionality is the same, so I guess it's down to aesthetics alone. I'd welcome your comments.

I think, out of the two options, that the Airwolf sends a more "raw" or "untamed" signal. I like that, so the Airwolf would be my choice.

I have to go with the B1 - a much loved and soon to be much missed watch - if you found a new one left in stock I would snap it up.

I just don't get the same emotional response from the Airwolf.

Tough One.. I think the B-1 carries more Breitling character and feels more like a Ling when I look at it, but the Airwolf is a beautiful watch as well. I'm not the hugest fan of the bezel on the Airwolf.. I prefer the bezel that is on the B-1. I think both watches are outstanding and I would have trouble picking which one. If it were me I'd get the airwolf since i've already owned a B1 before.

I personnaly would go for the Airwolf, its a stunning watch and really looks the business on your wrist. I have recently bought one in Dubai and I am totally pleased with my purchase.

Cor, you guys are no help at all!!! It's pretty much a 50/50 split on this one.

To be honest I was probably leaning fractionally more towards the B-1 (and as the one for sale is on a leather strap I was thinking of putting a Pilot bracelet on it after Admin said it fits perfectly), but now I'm thinknig a bit more about an Airwolf!!

Arrrrggghhh!!!

Take a good look at the Airwolf dial and make sure the seconds hand lines up with all of the minute marks on the watch dial.

I was in a similar situation as yourself, trying to decide which watch to buy. I originally decided to go with the Airwolf because I couldn't find any new B-1's, even though I would have preferred a new B-1.

I was just about to purchase a new Airwolf until I discovered that the second hand was approximately 1/4 of a second ahead of the 15 min mark and also the 30 min mark. It was properly aligned at 12 o'clock.

I then checked another Airwolf the AD had in stock, this was slightly better aligned but still not what I would expect from a Breitling. I was very disappointed with my discovery, and left the AD without purchasing any of the watches.

I've also posted questions about the Airwolf's seconds hand alignment with the minute marks, and other Airwolf owners have answered saying that there was a misalignment problem.

I guess this is just another one of the Breitling QC issues I've been reading about on the forums.

This made me drop the Airwolf completely out of my mind and go for a used B-1, which I am very happy with and is still under warranty.

Good luck with your choice and looking forward to seeing some pics of your new watch.

Yep, if you can't handle the answer, then don't ask...

On the other hand, right now it seems that you have a majority vote for your B-1...
:D

Thanks for all your comments guys - most appreciated.

They are obviously both pretty well matched watches as it is still a close run thing on the poll. However, Metro23man's very interesting comments about the possibility of QC issues on the Airwolf caused me a little concern. (Many thanks for bringing that to our attention Metro23man  ) Also while the lines of the Airwolf case have a lot of presence, it does remind me of my Steelfish a little, so I feel I kind of fancy something a little different. Lastly, Roffensian's point about snapping up a brand new B-1 before they are gone forever has finally swung my decision.

Soooooooo, while the Airwolf is clearly a very fine watch (with a cool name!), I have just paid for a brand new shiny B-1! :lingsrock: Grey dial, on (unfortunately) a black leather strap, but it does come with a deployant clasp. I'm not too bothered by the strap as I will be changing it anyway. (In fact if it'd come with the Fighter bracelet I would be changing that too as I'm not a big fan of it).

Oh and because it's a discontinued model I got it for £580 less than list, which means I can get either a Pro II bracelet (if it fits) or maybe a Pilot bracelet.

I pick him up on Saturday, so I will post some pics soon after that.

Changed it to 8-7 for the B1. Don't like the Airwolf dial and don't understand why, at least in Switzerland, it should be 15% more expensive.
Using the "old model" argument I managed to get 20% off :D

The dial on the Airwolf is actually another reason I went for the B-1. I personally just find the sun-ray ridged effect a little too large - I prefer the smaller effect of the Skyracer. Acropilot on here has got a really nice Reno Airwolf, and the good thing about that one is the flat dial as I guess putting the Reno logo on the standard sculpted dial wouldn't have worked.
