Post subject:  OK to use while target shooting?

I wore my Superocean while target shooting and the next day the crown came off while setting the time. After reading about the self-winding components being more fragile, I wondered if the two incidents could be related?

If this is the case, would I be better off with a quartz since I usually shoot a .45? I have my eye on a Chrono Avenger as a replacement :)

Thanks!

...I talked to my AD's Breitling certified watchmaker regarding the use of a Breitling chrono watch during jogging or other similar activity and impact on the watch during this activity. The weight of the Avenger Skyland was also the factor that I thought it would help the intensity of the shock if it happens. The only reason I asked was because I never used chrono watch during such activities. My other watches (Rolex, Omega and Oris) were used for years during all sorts of activities and in pretty harsh environment as well. He told me that I am pretty safe as AS, such as other Breitlings, is pretty much shock protected (to a certain degree); however, he said, it may happen that the crown "falls off" and it is pretty frequent on caliber B13 (his words)...

Cheers,

This thread is relevant from a couple of days ago - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10411

I can't see how the crown would be related to the shooting. The 7750 does put more stress on the crown when winding / adjusting because there is quite a lot of inertia in the crown teeth which in turn increases the strain where the crown joins the crown stem, but I don't see any connection to the shooting.
