Post subject:  Lesson Learned- DONT BUY BREITLING

I used to be a proud owner of a Breitling Emergency. I bought the watch 1.5 years ago and last month while I was wearing the watch I noticed the cap on the transmitter had become dislodged. I am very protective of this watch and take very good care of it as I do with everything I own. I sent the watch in to have it repaired and I recieved a call from Lenkersdorfer of McLean VA. They informed me that Breitling had determined I had removed the cap and that the warranty was void. It cost $425.00 for the repairs, its not the cost that bothered me, its being called a liar that is ending my relationship with Breitling. I have actively been looking to purchase a Navitimer, but since this has happened I will now either buy a Rolex or an Omega. Lesson Learned, Buyer Beware.

P.S. I already had the watch in for repair last summer when the watch was six months old for a dead battery.

OH yeah didnt see that sorry.

I would raise it with BUSA although they already have your cash so why refund?? still worth a go though. It really annoys me though when companys act like this is it really a big deal for them to repair it for free and send it back,I just got a packet of goodies from BUK and I tell you what I want to run down to my AD now and buy everything I like its made me feel so happy with the brand they sent me maybe $100 of sstuff but Ill tell you what talk about loyalty now If I win the lotto my AD or AM will be cleaned out I kid you not,I could blow $50,000 in one day no probs,Imagine how cool it would be to walk in to an AD and say oh I dont know which I like Ill take one of each model please,I have got to stop Im getting to into this watch Porn.

Sorry to say but this is another example of poor customer service that will cost Breitling dear. It's been raised a couple of times on here before, but in situations like this (i.e. with a watch that is still within warranty), Breitling need to learn to just suck it up and sort issues out without any fuss..... even if they believe they are slightly dubious. Other manufacturers (like Rolex) do it, even if the issue is one of questionable origin, but it keeps people saying how great they are, and that undoubtedly keeps people coming back.

Take this example from fmattioli - Breitling managed to save themselves $425 by playing hardball and calling the guy a liar. The upshot? He now cancels his aspirations to buy a Navitimer which will costing Breitling what $5000 / $6000?. It also ruins any chance of him ever buying any other Breilting in future. And then he posts on a global site like this with a potential audience of millions, telling the story that may very well put off a couple of undecided buyers - so costing Breitling several more thousands in lost sales.

When will companies learn that p*ssing about over a couple of hundred dollars will actually end up costing them many thousands in lost sales?

PS - From a personal note, BUK have always been extremely professional, but the stories about BUSA seem to indicate they leave a little to be desired.

Well as you saw in the last post of this nature I alerted my contact in BUK to another issue with an AD I got a reply within a few mins of sending an email and she said she would resolve it and please could she have more details,I showed her the post here and she read it and as far as I am aware she sorted it out for the OP,I know for a fact that BUK keep there eye on the posts here and maybe BUSA should be doing the same after all I would say at least 85% of people here own Breitlings and most own more than one, I have owned lots in the past the most was 5 at once recently I had three (now down to none until tomorow????) But I intend to get some more soon as well as other brands, So if you have a massive worldwide forum dedicated to your brand If I were high up in Breitling I would be checking here every single day and making sure all my customers were happy.

There is an old saying if you are happy with something you tell 1 or two people,If you are unhappy you tell 10 or more,What does that tell you CS people.

and how many of those undecided buyers are owners or potential future owners of breitling watches? before buying my first breitling, i visited the breitling forums quite frequently.

Let me quess.... because you are not getting your own way - you want to destroy everybody elses fun with the brand?

You need to realise the world does not revolve around you. Not really sure if Breitling really cares about the crumby Steel Rolex or cheap Omega Dive watch you want to purchase - and so proudly state you wont be spending those dollars with Breitling.

A few facts you need to consider:-
1) The Emergency watch has a special thing inside the cap to let the AD know if somebody was removed it or not.
2) You should of stated your facts upon them requesting $425-
3) Just because this did not go your way - WHY SPOIL THE FUN FOR US HERE! We like to live in a "dream world" where everything Breitling is good.... and everything else (regardless of the facts) is evil.
4) You sound like a spoil brat. Did you get everything as a child?
5) I am personally gladly people like you wont be soiling the brand.

Sorry to hear that fmattioli, I understand your frustration and I would take it up with Breitling USA and SA if that doesnt work out, though now that you paid you essentially agreed to their statement in their eyes.

Post subject:  Re: Lesson Learned- DONT BUY BREITLING

It really does seem short sighted on BUSA's part, and I have to wonder whether the speed with which Breitling has been growing is partly to blame - they may not have developed the customer service functions as quickly as production / marketing / sales / etc.

I also think that the AD has to take some responsibility - although I have not been in this position I firmly believe that if Breitling took this position with one of my watches the AD wouldn't even tell me - they would just sort it out with Breitling directly.

As has been said, this $425 has cost Breitling a heck of a lot more, and I'm sure that when Breitling read this thread they'll be wishing that it was handled differently.

I really don't care about a single customer experience. I have had zero issues with mine and my AD.
