Post subject:  How do I send watch directly to Breitling

I would like to know If I can send my watch directly to Breitling for service and bypass my AD. I like my AD and have had great sales service from him. He sells and repairs many different brands of which Breitling is one. My reason for bypassing my AD is that my AD has a Breitling "certified" repair person on site that performs the Breitling service. I'm sure he would do a fine job on minor repairs, but there is no way he can perform the "full Breitling service" like that in the service video on this site. I have seen his work area and it consists of a wide open cubicle with spare parts, papers and a full astray on his work surface. Very disorganized. I don't want my Breitling taken apart in that type of environment as it's not exactly a clean "lab like" area that Breitling exhibits in their service video. I want to know for sure that my watch gets the full Breitling service.
If anyone has had direct dealing with Breilting I would appreciate any information such as where to ship it, how to ship it, and what to include as far as instructions. I assume there is a North American location for Breitling that I can deal with. Any information would be helpful.
Regards.

A full service always is sent to Breitling I believe.
Taking the watch apart, replacing certain worn down items, cleaning all the parts in a special bath, testing, then polishing the entire watchcase (and bracelet) is not something they can do at a AD, even if he is certified for repairs.
And if you want to be sure, just ask your AD straight out what the process is when you do a full service. Nothing wrong with just asking. Can ask the price as well.
He will probably tell you they will send it to Breitling anyway.

In Canada you can't send it direct. There is no 'Breitling Canada' it's the repair / servicing workshop of Grigoros Canada which is the Canadian distributor and owner of La Swiss. They will do most work themselves though have arrangements with BUSA / Breitling SA if need be.

If you take the watch to your AD they will send it to Toronto on your behalf where the service cetnre is.

Thanks Roffensian. So it appears that you cannot get a proper Breitling service if you reside in Canada, but rather your watch goes to some non-Breitling watch repair centre? That is really unfortunate. This could be a problem if a Canadian wants to sell his watch internationally. If a potentiall buyer wants to know if the watch was properly serviced by Breitling, I can't in good conscience say that it was. There must be a way to get a watch to Breitling for a proper service. I think I will write to them and see what I can find out.

It is a proper Breitling service. It just so happens that Breitling Canada is called Grigoros.

Same training, same certification, same everything - just a different name.

Couldn't you send it to BUSA in CT for service?

Or is that not allowed? If it's not allowed why? I guess only BUSA could answer that or maybe an AD or moderator with experience.

I mean it is a Breitling and you are paying for it(the service), I would think you could send it in without a problem.

If no one can answer for sure, I think a call to BUSA would be in order.

Theoretically you can, though I'm not sure what the point would be.

BUSA are also starting to be difficult with watches that weren't originally BUSA sales - trying to cut down on grey market watches. Ultimately they would likely have to accept it, but in my experience there is no advantage to sending a watch outside of Canada for service.

According to Breitling the watches are serviced at a "Breitling Certified Center" so that can be just about anywhere for all we know as long as it meets their criteria. But it would be nice to know that its done in a nice clean lab as shown in the video. Heck for the price they charge it better be.

If you ask your AD nicely they may let you visit the service centre - it's SE of Yonge & Bloor in Toronto.

Really? Pisser... I was just there, spending a lot of time in that city area. Wish I had known!

I've never asked, but I suspect that they would let me. That may just be me, I'll try and find out.

I also know for a fact that Grigoros can't do everything at their facility in Yorkville. I dropped off my Emergency there for its overhaul and he informed me that they have to send it to BUSA to have it done. Apparently the Emergency is one of the few that is like that because of its ELT. Guess they don't have the tools to re-certify the ELT.

Actually, I don't think BUSA can do it either.

As far as I know the transmitter has to go back to Dassault in France.
