Hi folks, I'm looking to purchase a Navitimer World and have looked up the usual suspects for a well priced one. Best deal I've had so far is £2980 BNIB. I'm not sure if they are an AD but have been reassured that they'll be no issues with warranty cover. Is this a good price? Thanks in advance. Tiko |

Hi TikoV and welcome to Bretiling Source. It's difficult to say if that is a good price not knowing the particulars. Is the watch on leather or bracelet and is that price from an AD that is of course backing up the watch with a two year warranty and service or is it from the gray market with a limited in store warranty? The price you have been quoted, if the watch is on a bracelet, and if from an AD would be ~35% off of U.S. retail for 2008-2009. That IMO would be a reasonable deal. If the watch is being sold on the gray market - that's another story. Any more info you could provide would be appreciated. Also something to keep in mind are used watches. I know of one great example for sale here by a member on Breitling Source that may still be available. |

Watchfinder are not an AD, so any warranty will be their own - and any work under that warranty will not be with genuine Breitling parts because Breitling won't sell them outside of their dealer network. You also need to make sure that the serial number is intact, otherwise Breitling won't touch it, period. In terms of price, not sure about UK retail, but US retail for the world on calf leather (which I assume you mean rather than croc) is $5,560 with the tang buckle, $5,800 with deployant. In GBP that's 3,660 / 3,820 or 18 - 22% discount - no idea where br549 got 35% from. Given that UK prices are generally slightly higher that's not bad, but with talk of UK ADs giving 20% now, any advantage is more than compensated by the risk of not buying from an AD. I would take advantage of the relationship BreitlingSource has with Andrew Michaels - PM alex** for details, I'm sure they can help you out. |

I think I stated that in my initial post. It was not until he replied in subsequent postings that this became evident. He had not yet specified leather, croc or steel. I therefore took the U.S. price list for a Navi World on SS bracelet with a price of $6800.00 usd and calculated - that to reach a price of 2980.00gbp that converts to 4517.00usd a discount of approximately ~35% would be required. 35% of 6800 is 4420.00 which converts to ~2915.00 gbp. Again I apologize for ANY confusion. |

Tiko, I bought a Breitling from Watchfinder. No problem with the watch - usual grey market sourcing from a genuine Breitling AD somewhere in the world. But I can't quite trust their assurances about the Breitling warranty. You WILL get the Breitling warranty book - with serials, and perforated dealer code, no problem there. What you probably won't get is the AD stamp. I was concerned about this and raised the issue with them. They assured me if there was a problem under warranty, Breitling would honour it. They also offered to get the booklet completed for me within 10 days of receipt. As I understand it, if the dealer details and a signature are there, it covers you. Question is, does it need to be an ink stamp or not? I easily tracked down the source AD - a single-outlet family-owned business, so no problems with the required information. If it came from a multiple-outlet AD, you've got a problem. However, there may be an AD who in the current climate, will get close to the Watchfinder discount (18% on UK list, maybe 20% if you haggle), and I would consider paying slightly more for absolute peace of mind. [edit] I must add that I believe Watchfinder are very honest and reputable traders. I have no qualms about payment or authenticity of their watches. It's more an issue of the pernickity small print of the Breitling guarantee. I bought an Oris through them and the ORIS warranty was full in all respects with dealer stamp etc. Ike |

Thanks once again for the very informative comments lads. I should have made myself clearer in my original post, sorry for any confusion. One other twist, I'm off to Madrid this Thursday. Can I expect any bargains possibly over there? |
