Is it just me or do price increases seem like an all to regular event. It seems every time I turn around there's another price increase :(

So much for the economic meltdown

They are regular - after Basel every year.

It seems worse this year because of the major currency fluctuations that have happened that caused 'exchange rate related adjustments' from November to February. The principle of those is that they want to keep some degree of parity globally so adjust prices for currency swings.

The problem there of course is that the prices aren't equal globally and that you can make an adjustment by moving one price down just as well as by putting one up.

Haven't spoken to my AD in a couple of weeks so don't know when, but they were expecting one.

Down here on the bottom tip of Africa the result of the last three 'exchange rate related adjustments' and the May increase has seen an overall decrease in the cost of Breitlings in our local currency.

The local unit has appreciated as much as 20% against the US$ in the last 4 months.

Just been to a local AD, Ernest Jones and asked about the June price increase. They estimate between 13 - 15%

One thing that really p1sses me off about the price increases - They are accross their entire stock, even if they've had it in for months. So its stocked, bought and paid for, done deal. Just extra margin for them! The AD I just went to had a titanium Avenger Seawolf. Thats not even a current model and they increased the price by over £250 after Christmas

That's a pretty steep hike considering the economic conditions. One consolation though - imagine what it COULD'VE been if the economy was rosey! (Actually I'm pretty sure most watch manufacturers are totally oblivious to the prevailing world economy when it comes to price rises).

Just means the discounts will have to be that much better for me to buy at an AD. I don't know about everyone else, but I will soon be priced out.

Don't complain with Your AD about the price increase. It is not their fault.
Don't complain with Your Breitling UK about the price increase. Its not their fault, they where even very nice to hold it back for such a long time.
Complain with Your banks and politicans (and with american banks and politicans), that they have messed up the financial system and the pound has lost a lot of its value against the swiss franc.

I just blame Breitling because they are greedy and in this tough times they don't want to make easier for the brand enthusiasts. TBH we all know that ANY luxury watch really costs only fraction of it's price.
