Been after a Navi World for a couple of wks now.

Just bought a Bentley Motors so wanted to spend less than £2000 if one popped up

What sort of value is wiped off a watch if all the papers are missing?

I would say the normal second hand value of a Navi world in the UK is around £3000 but i`ve found one on Ebay for £2400,
It's mint but it has no papers just a box which is probably one they had lying around, do you think the watch is already reduced enough or is it worth trying to get it down even more?

Will try and get the serial number to check it with Breitling but these Ebay sellers seem to be very slack when it comes to answering questions

It depends on the buyer. If the watch is out of warranty, the papers dont actually have any value at all, although they will make the watch more attractive to a potential buyer since it can prove provenance. Still, the warranty issue is the the big part.

I consider proper papers (and the box, natch) to be part of the provenance of the watch and a bit more proof than just a box that the watch is genuine. If you are buying this off of eBay and you can't get it checked out, and most especially if they are not answering your questions to your satisfaction, then move on. Sometimes it really is too good to be true.

Thanks guys,

Yes i have moved on, didnt feel right to me, watch was in mint condition and looked brand new but no papers worried me, plus still no reply after asking twice for the serial number so i could check if the watch was stolen

Now i've looked more into it i can get a new one from america for just a few hundred pounds more although it will be a grey watch, but at least i know when i send it for a service (non Breitling) i know there not going to tell me it's stolen and is being sent back to the rightfull owner

Don't forget to add approximately 30% on top of the asking price when importing watches from the US if importing into UK - that will be the duty, taxes (VAT) and fees payable to customs.

You may get lucky and not get charged but customs seem to be quite hot these days.

Once you're talking over £2,000, it's cheaper to fly to the States and wear it on the way back than pay customs fees.

Not that I'd ever do such a thing of course (cough, cough).
