Hey guys,
Just editing my post and all is being resolved in regards to my watch issues. Thanks for all the replies.
The AD is taking care of it and in the end it will all be good and no ill feelings.
I'd work with them again.
Chris

You know the answer - tell them that it isn't acceptable and that you want a replacement. You paid for a perfect watch - you are the one who is supposed to scratch it up, not them.

Take it back. Take it back. Take it back.
That is totally unacceptable. I know you feel the AD is trying to make ammends but that would not fly with me and I doubt it will with you either. Take it back!

To my mind you purchased a brand new watch.

As far as I am aware brand new watches come from the factory sans scratches so your brand new watch should be in that condition when you receive it, anything less needs to be replaced!

If this was a watch costing under a $100 bucks I would still expect the same but one costing several thousands this is inexcusable, what do we pay the extra money for, surely part of the extra is about the experience going above and beyond the norm!

I think the comment from your AD is ridiculous, it does not matter if you can see it or not, it did not come from the factory like that it comes from an AD with careless staff, heck if they have this attitude to what you can't see I would hate to see what their service department is like!

Looking at the scratches only someone who has never done this work before or who is grossly inept could managed to bugger it up to the extent they have!

I would ask for a refund and go buy your watch from someone else!

You have experienced totally unacceptable behaviour as far as I am concerned!

Wow, you really made the scratches sound like nothing, but the pictures show something completely different. Id send it back in a heartbeat. Much like you, I hate being a pain in the ass and usually live with things that others might complain about, but that it completely unacceptable. Mine has all kinds of scratches on it, but I had the pleasure of adding them. You paid for a perfect watch, and you should expect a perfect watch. Maybe include a copy of this thread so the dealer can see that you arent the only one that thinks this is not okay.

You've got to be kidding me. This isn't a Walmart Timex we're talking about. There is NO question about it, they need to replace it, and compensate you for your troubles somehow.

I think you know the answer...please don't think my comment as being rude (especially from a new guy on this forum).
Sounds to me like you are overly sympathetic with the AD's situation in this matter. My voice of reason is telling me that you paid hard earned money for a NEW watch and that should be devoid of any marks period. If they want to insist you keep this particular watch, I'd only agree if a partial refund is in play.
Hope the end game turns in your favor.
regards,
Mark(msa6712)

As the others have already said those scratches will start to annoy you more and more If you dont want to go back to the dealer get in touch with Breitling USA and explain you feel the dealer has been very fair and you dont want to take it back to him but you are not happy,See what they say but dont just put up with it mate,I see no reason to except sub standard goods If the dealer had said look I am sorry about the scratches do you wnat me to exchange it or give you some cash back or a free service etc that would have been ok but to expect to fob you off with a half hearted fix which has actually made things worse,Well thats another story contact BUSA mate and let them handle it.

As I have often said...

If your head hurts trying to figure out how to solve a problem, it's probably not your problem.

I think it's great that you have sympathy for your AD and may want to maintain a relationship. He may have even given you a great price. BUT, it is his problem that he or one of his staff put the watch in that condition. He must bear the financial consequence of mistreatment, not you. I know exactly how you feel, but in the end, it's a business transaction, and you are not getting what you paid for. I guarantee his staff will be more careful the next time.

I agree with everyone else. In no way is that acceptable on a new watch, nor for that matter would it be acceptable on a second- (or third- or fourth-) hand watch unless the scratches were there when you agreed to buy it.

I'm surprised the AD is bold enough to send it back to you in that condition.

Your are being more than reasonable! That is totally unacceptable. I wear my Seawolf to work. I work in the finishing department of a print shop. My hands are in and out of machinery all day. My watch has some scratches on it, but not like those. And I put them there myself! Your photography is excellent, by the way, and I know that you are not trying to overdo the scratches.
I certainly hope that AD gives you no trouble. Obviously, you have the back up of everyone who responded to your post.
Personally, I feel very badly for you, and I hope that you can get this resolved with little hassle. I can only imagine how this must feel to you, and how I would feel in the same situation.
Please don't worry about being "long-winded", or making many posts. We are all here to listen.
Good luck, and keep us posted.
Cheers,
Carl

I just spoke with the AD Rep I have been dealing with and he will be ordering a new watch tomorrow for me to replace this one.
All will be right in the end I'm sure. He seems to be a stand up guy. This deal just didn't go that smooth.
No ill feelings towards anyone.
Thanks for the responses guys. I am not one for confrontation and I just needed to know if my feelings were valid on this situation.
