To be honest I'm surprised the TO1461 made it here... Not the biggest fan of it after having tried it on. Normally I love perpetuals and busy dials, but I found the TO's dial a bit too busy and a bit too plain at the same time. Perhaps it's because it's so very two tend in the black dial?

But a very good showing for both the Cossie and 769 this yr!

I've said it before, and I KNOW we're a only tiny section of the watch-buying public, but I think this shows Breitling a very clear message (even if only about 1% of the membership here bothered to vote! :? )

And that message is that modern takes on traditionally styled pieces are WHAT PEOPLE WANT!

The TOC 1461 - A very traditionally-styled, classic looking watch but with the excellent modern semi-perpetual calendar movement.

The Cossie SE - Even more traditional in styling than the TOC, but with the superb display back, which is one of the most attractive ones out there IMO (for realistic money that is).

The 769 - This one's not even a reinterpretation of a classic : it IS a classic! Now obviously any new watch Breitling releases will by their very nature be new, but the fact this one got as far as it did, says an awful lot about styling tastes.

And last but by no means least, the Navi 01 - We all know it inside-out, but for this to get through to the final 2 years running says it all. Completely traditional styling with no messing about with the formula. Plus with the added bonus of the in-house movement, and a slightly more modern size without going overboard. It's just a great watch and I'm not in the least bit surprised to see it here again. And I actually hope it wins again, because IMO it IS the best piece here.

So come on Breitling - raid that back-catalogue of designs and sensitively bring them up to date for us to enjoy!

They're all great, but I'm cheering for the 1461.

I can't complain about any of the final four. No surprise the 01 is here, and its clearly an important piece for Breitling. Funny, though when everybody was nominating it just struck me how the Cossie seemed a more pure aviator's piece, and so aligned to Breitling. Happy it got here. I am surprised a little about the 1461, but for those of us who still remember that Breitling was a relative value proposition in its market, the 1461 might be the best representative left. No longer the deal it once was, the 1461 is still less expensive than other pieces with comparable functions. The 769 is just beautiful--just is, and of course one of those models with the measuring complication which led to the Navitimer.

They are all beautiful pieces, and seem very worthy of the final four (not that others couldn't be there). The Navi is the standout for me again; it's just one of the iconic Breitling pieces, along with the Chronomat - I do like that 769 very much. Seems to be pretty consistent feedback from the members here on what we like and prefer. Another good exercise.

Just FYI for everyone, I'll be on a plane when the contest actually ends but will aim to update the first post with the final results later this evening.

I'll get to the general watch competition that we talked about in the next few days and solicit your input on some of the options for that.

Final results updated, no surprise I guess that the Navitimer 01 won again.

Hugely disappointing that only 35 people voted though :(

I'll start work on the general one later this week and hopefully the fact that we are appreciative of many brands will see an increased participation rate.

Wow I knew the numbers were low but 35 is ridiculous compared to the amount of users on the forum!
In any event congrats to the Navi 01, it is a beautiful piece.

It's because it was obvious from the start. As you wrote, no surprise.

Maybe so, but it's still a disappointing turn-out as it's a bit of fun to increase forum interaction, and takes no more than a quick click of the mouse to join in. Plus, as much as the Navi 01 was a natural favourite to win, the only way to change that is to vote for something else! :)

Anyway, thanks a lot for running this again Roff. I know it takes quite a bit of set-up in the early stages especially with all the links to the various models, so I'm sure the 35 voters all appreciated your efforts on this - I know I did.

(I have a feeling these competitions will go the way of forum watch projects due to lack of interest.......)

Likewise, thanks a million Roff for getting it off the ground, even if only 35 of us stuck with it till the end.
Unfortunately that is probably a fair indication of the forum die hards. There are only about 35-40 of us regulars here and the rest are pretty much add hock visitors.
It would be interesting to see from the forum statistics what % of members log in at least once a week.
Anyway, it was fun and I am happy to see the Nav 01 as the clear winner again as that would definitely be the last one to go if I had to liquidate my collection ;-)

Thanks Roff!!!

Don't blame me... I went for the TO and the 769. But I guess the Navi 01 earned a repeat title.

Thanks again Roff for the efforts. Always fun.

I wonder if the turn out would have been better if there'd been ongoing discussion in each voting thread? Would have kept them on the 'active topics' page?

Either way, Good to see some great Breitlings acknowledged. The TO series is everything Breitling WAS, and thankfully is being again, the Navi is iconic and evolves at about the same glacial pace as the Porsche 911, the 769 inspired so many Breitlings for the past 6 decades, and the Cosmonaute SS is on my wrist *cough* I mean another classic ;-)
