Too much time worrying about the care and condition and not enough time to enjoy it and relax! I did the same thing the first couple weeks I had it now I just wash it once a week and its all good.

I gave a thorough spa treatment to my B-1 bracelet with a lot of elbow work using a Cape Cod cloth and after that a precise refinishing of the brushed parts with a green Scotch Brite pad.

The results were actually so nice that I decided to pack the bracelet inside the Bakelite Box and now I am wearing the watch on leather, just to preserve that pristine look.

We are strange people indeed.

If your goal is to keep a polished SS watch free of hairlines (micro-scratches) you will have to spend a couple hours once a week. The watch will scratch no matter how careful you are. You have to approach it from the viewpoint of what does this look like to anyone else? Look in the mirror and stand back. "OMG, that's a nice shiny watch and I thought it was all scratched up." Otherwise, you, will never be happy with the watch as you constantly look for one tiny surface flaw after another. My first watch was an Avenger Skyland new out of the ADs display. I made them polish it with jeweler's rouge since a saw a few little hairlines. A week later I came to terms with how silly I had been.

+1 to Sharkie's comment.

It's a lost cause... Polished stainless scratches as soon as dusty wind blows on it. Really.

Once a month go ahead & enjoy rejuvenating it with cape cod or sunshine cloth. But the other 29 days, you've got to accept living with some scratches & swirlies...

Have to agree with Sharkman..........you have to look at watch from a broader view.........I have had my SA (blue dial) for about 6 weeks (including the time in the Service Center - ) and I cannot believe all the scratches, but right after a bath and buff it is a thing of beauty............and no one but me notices the scratches............OH I will sunshine but have not decided how often....but you cannot let the scratches diminish your enjoyment of this beautiful watch!...It is just a watch after all and there are much more important things in life - which is the lesson I learned when I smashed my 24 hour old BMW 528I into a deer a number of years ago......stuff is just stuff......friends and family....priceless even with the scratches!!

I promis you a week after you get your new one it will have swirls too if not more. You could wear it in a padded room all day and still can't be avoided. Hopefully you will be able to look back and laugh, you won't truly be able to enjoy it till you do.

HI, guys. Sorry im just responding ive not been on for a while. I have now come to accept that these scratches are inevitable so what i will do is just use a sunshine cloth once a month, but.... im scared of this, anybody got a link to a good video on how to do it?

One finger in the cloth, lots of pressure and patience. If just the bracelet, remove it from the case and lay it flat. You aren't going to hurt it.

Or get a polishing stick and wrap the cloth around it for better even pressure.

Avoid the crystal and the brushed areas. Thats about all you need to know.

Don't even bother removing the bracelet from the case when you just want to lightly polish the bracelet. The sunshine cloth or cape cod are not that abrasive that it'll do any damage by just touching the case by accident. You can just use tape to cover the case if you are that worried. I have found that the CapeCod (although messier) takes deeper scratches out better than the sunshine cloth, but for a light polish, the sunshine cloth is ok.
