Holy crap that is even worse than I expected!!! Breitling needs to reduce the size of their bezels, it dominates the whole watch....and it's butt ugly to make matters worse. I think it's now safe to say that an Inhouse blackbird isn't in the cards for at least another 3 years. Im sure they didn't release this model with the intention of putting an Inhouse movement in the near future.

I hope the colour balance is off, that red looks almost pink.

I'm not sure about the 3 years out for in house, to me this just screams of an LE to use up the movements that were sitting in the parts bin.

Let's say they do spend the cash to add a big date feature on the Inhouse movement, what models would it be in? Are they really going to make that change for one or two models? Blackbird and possibly the 6.75? Could they do a 3 hand diver with big date?

The GMT complication was a logical evolution for the B01 because it can go into multiple watches in both the chronomat and navitimer lineups. Where would a big date feature fit into the lineup aside from the two models I mentioned above? That's why I don't see an Inhouse blackbird coming soon.

I don't know exactly how Breitling have designed the B01 family, but generally speaking movements are designed to be modular so that additional complications are added as modules to a base (kinda like the 2892-A2 concept, although obviously the B01 starts with a chronograph). If the movement was designed to take modules like GMT, moonphase, big date, etc then it might not be that much work to add it in. Obviously usage is another issue and ,maybe leads to a need to rationalise the range and not make each model a relatively low seller.

A little off topic, but GP has just announced that they are working on a new family of movements that is actually taking the opposite approach - start with the most complicated high complication piece and then create other calibers by removing bits so that even the simplest caliber shares the same basic design.

That's really nasty looking. I'm REALLY happy I just bought last year's BB. (not the red strike).

You are right about the bezel, too big.

Hate to say this, but it reminds me of a few Invicta watches I've seen.

I think the first Breitling I ever saw was in an advertisement a few years back and it was the big date black bird. I think John Travolta was wearing it. Fell in love with it, but couldn't afford it at the time. But it "spoke" to me. It looked serious, high quality, real... Know what I mean? It also said aviation. Maybe Breitling just did there advertisements right.

But this?.... Sorry. Can I say "clown watch" without insulting anyone?

Just my 2 cents.

Any typos are the product of my stupid iPad self correction feature.

Bunch o' maroons.

If I had to guess, I'd say a coarsely woven linen, but I'm not sure. Whatever it is, I like it.
