I'm not sure why you think you were provoked. All I did was post a Wikipedia link, without comment. How was I to know you already knew the expression? Your subsequent responses were indignant, sarcastic and snarky. Maybe I read too much into what you said, but I didn't take too kindly to you saying the "messenger" (who was me) deserved to be shot. So I posted a Santa flipping you the bird. What did you want me to do - thank you for insulting me? Given how I felt, I was exercising restraint.

Dear JacksonStone,

Two wrongs don't make a right do they? I was provoked, you were provoked and so we got into a bun fight which could drone on for years if we let it. I feel that it has now gone on for long enough (as I hope you do too) and that it is unfair of us both to continue this on Gobreitling's thread (he has already expressed his dissatisfaction - much to my shame  ). Therefore, couldn't we both just shake hands on this, agree to our differences and remain on this site as friends? :| .

Totally correct. Breitling has both watches now. It's not their repair that I am worried for, even though it's becoming quite clear from this thread and my comms with them that fixing the Old Quartz should not even be offered. If the Budapest service was under par, if the parts were Ilegal, etc, that means that they/Breitling also slept at the wheel, so to speak. They are not responsible for the final repair and Breitling should sue the Service center who did anauthorized work. Its a fallacy to expect you to check your service center that you use for 10 years, each time you take your watch. Really, whoever wrote that needs a reality check.
We shall see.
Thank you for your comments.

First off I'm sorry that your watches aren't working, that sucks and we'd all like our very expensive Breitlings to work forever but, especially with a quartz movement, that's just not gonna happen. It seems like you have three choices, fix the old quartz movement which has seemed to give you too much trouble, replace them with super quartz, expensive but will be serviceable for 20 years after production ends or as Roff said, use therm as paperweights. To me upgrading to the SQ movement makes the most sense but its up to you to spend that much money.

As far as the service center, I understand the way you feel but I don't see how any reasonable person would expect Breitling to ensure that you took your watch to an authorized service center. The info is readily available on their website and can be easily confirmed in a matter of minutes before you drop off your watches. We don't always get the answer that we're looking for.

HI guys. OK, based on all the comments on this thread and the comms with Breitling, I have found a course on solving the impasse: The blue dial AERO 00 watch will be upgraded to Superquartz, including new luminova hands. The other one will be parked on my antique collection and thats the end of that.
And, to sign off:
Lesson one: THIS FORUM, for better or for worse, bickering or not, WAS VERY HELPFULL. Thank you all that helped or didnt.
Lesson two: You must check the Breitling Website before you do ANY service on your watch, every time, NO fail, see if the SC is authorized. NO exceptions.
Lesson three: Don't fix the old quartz movement. If it breaks, thats it, go for the upgrade, no good money after bad.
Lesson four: QUEEN said it best, "NOTHING IS FOREVER!".
You all have a Good Holiday, wherever you are!

Congrats, I hope everything works out for you. Now it'll give you a reason to buy a new watch while you're waiting on yours to get fixed.
