I think some of us are forgetting that Costco is selling them for more money than regular gray market dealers. Whats the big deal?

:yeahthat:

It seems to be 'ok' sometimes to buy online, but pay more and go to Costco....and it's wrong? Doesn't make sense to me!

At the Costco close to my house, they have a rose gold Flying B chrono on leather for $14,999

Where is the logic in this statement. Does a Breitling watch diminish in quality and turn into a tag if it is sold by someone other than an AD? Obviously not. Unless.......maybe COSTCO installs a self destruct mechanism in the Breitlings they sell. Yes that makes sense.

:nana:

Breitling's quality wont drop but the aggressive pricing abilities of the super chains can lower the price point to 50% of value, therefore diminishing the value of the brand. Frankly I dont care who sells them as long as they dont undercut the customary discounts from the AD's. We need the AD's for those special orders, invitation only events, service work, tying on new watches and such. Where is the person that buys the new Evo from Sams going to have it serviced? I argue that they wont know and just wont have them serviced. A few years down the road, there might be a crap load of Breitlings needing a service and here comes the bad mouthing of the brand. "This stupid watch doesnt run right and I spent $2500 for it at Sams (or Cosco). Breitling sucks, I should have bought a Rolex. (of course they wouldnt be able to touch a rolly for the same $$ because the Rolex AD wouldnt secretly discount the crap out of their brand and sell them to the gray market.)"

Well, Ive said my peace of the subject and everyone knows where I stand. Like I said before, I dont want to see what has happened to most Mom and Pop shops (because of the WalMarts and Sams) happen to watch retailers. Heck its bad enough that we have a worldwide shortage of people interested in becoming watchmakers.

Good debate.
Everyone stare at your Breitlings and have a great day! :)

Scott

I can do better than that at my AD. Hard to think that one will move.

catalog. That stands for Army Air Force Exchange Service. More commonly known as a P.X or B.X. Military versions of department stores. Just recently purchased my Colt II quartz through its website. No taxes, or shipping and lower cost overall. They are authorized dealers for Breitling, Omega and a number of other brands. If you are US military, active or retired check it out. They stock the Navitimer and the AAFES price makes that Costco price look like robbery. :lingsrock:

Bronco. I see you're concerned about the value of the brand. I assume you know that a watch is like an automobile. It loses much of it's value once you leave the dealer with it. So value is a moot point. They're not investments and are a depreciable asset. Don't agree? Just look at all watches for sale on the buy/sell/trade page of this site. Watches are priced for a lot less than what was paid for them initially.

BoneDoc, MSRP on that SOB is $32675 if we are talking about the same watch... Red gold Flying B Chrono on leather is pricey.

its not old stock. The don't have stock. They are not an AD. How they get them, thats rather questionable. I had an old customer come by a few months ago sayin he found a Chronomat at costco. Had a white arabic dial, in steel. He bought it as it was about 30% off MSRP. When I told Breitling about it and they tracked down the serial number, it was outside US origin. So who knows how or where these fall off the truck and get to Costco

PS what was the Cartier that's behind the Breitling in pic?

Even at $26,930 for the non-chrono on leather, that makes it about 45% off.

lol. that was my first thought, but that would make Costco's price higher than MSRP.
