I actually bent two tabs backward on my old Crosswind. Not cheap to replace but sweater holes are no fun either.

There's a reason why they went flush and it isn't solely aesthetic I'm sure.

Yes, unfortunately that is the reason for the change of the rider tabs design according to what I was told by a President of a regional Breitling distributor a year or so ago. Apparently Breitling have been getting too many complaints/feedback from their customers about the tabs catching on the sleeves of their clothes.
This baffles me as I have never experienced that problem with my Colt tabs while wearing it for 10 plus years pretty much non stop as my daily beater.
In any case, I have no issue with the new style tabs - anymore at least.

No problem with my rider tabs on my Chronomat. Sometimes they catch but it isn't at all Chronomat's fault. Sweater manufacturers should do something about that .

BTW I also have Colt II automatic with newer version of rider tabs but, for me, older are more interesting.
