What does UEL mean?

That was my thinking, too. (Yes, sometimes I actually do think about these threads during other times of the day.) "EOL" isn't a universally recognized thing. It's an abstract acronym that ETA chose as a low-battery indicator. ETA could have chosen anything as that indicator, and nobody would think twice about it. In that sense, once QC (presumably) found out about the programming error, they "chose" to let it go through anyway, because ultimately, it's a harmless, truly innocuous error that is only in derogation of an already arbitrary symbol that most people don't understand anyway.

Thanks JacksonStone, I can understand that 'other' watch manufacturers may use other acronyms to show that the end of battery life is nigh and that EOL is what we all understand to be End Of Life and that it's not universally recognised. What I am not sure about is ETA - would you mind saying what ETA is (in military terms it's Estimated Time of Arrival

) but in this case is that another manufacturer? The way it's being talked about here is that the Airwolf SQ movement was manufactured elsewhere and then Breitling assembled the watch around that movement, is that correct? I realise that my ignorance is showing here but it may also help others who may have similar queries

ETA manufactures movements used in a lot of watches.

Name comes from the 1930s, a company called Ebauches SA, split into Eterna for watches and ETA for movements.
