Panerai only went up on wholesale to dealers. They haven't raised their MSRP since 2008.

The increased wholesale may have affected discounts, but they were slim on Panerai anyway...

I think we all need to calm down and wait until we see a price sheet.

Remember the last increase? Everyone was in a frenzy over a 15% increase..blah...blah.. Turned out to be less than 10%...and later than people thought.

This may not even happen...Could be AD pressure..could be true. Just chill down...

I suppose four years might be considered an eternity in this business, but I'm still blown away by the fact that when I bought my Evo less than four years ago, it retailed for $5100. Its current retail is $6300. Although it's now discontinued, the latest price increase will be applied to most or all existing stock at U.S. ADs. A 5% increase puts it up over $6600. That's an almost 30% increase in the last four years. I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm not earning 30% more than I did four years ago, nor do I find the Evo to be 30% nicer than I did four years ago. Those who talk about $250 not being that much of an increase might be missing the forest for the trees.

You're absolutely right Jackson, I completely share your point of view.

However, that's pure economics and maths. It so happens that America is at the bad side of the deal because of the dollar, as far as imported goods are concerned. But look at it this way: you can now export more because prices are looking much more attractive from the European viewpoint. Boeing will be happy but Breitling lovers won't. Same is valid for all imported goods in the US, notably cars priced in euros. And that's not the end of the story. If the dollar goes further down, you may have yet another increase.

On top of that, we'll most probably get a gas increase as well because the oil exporting countries won't be happy with the price of the dollar.

Look at it this way, we can now visit you for a looooot cheaper.

30 years ago, the US where the biggest importer of raw materials and the biggest exporter of finished products. Now, its the other way round: The US are the biggest exporter of raw materials and the biggest importer of finished products. The US politicians for the last 30 years did not see that development or found no sensible way to react on that. After the realestate crisis, the world has slowly started to notice the US perspecitve, and now You, the people who live in the US, are paying the price for what Your former governements have done. I may have to admit, that GW Bush and Obama already had hardly a chance to turn the ship around, because it was already too late then. GW Bush tried at least (with the war in Afghanistan and Irak, although it was too long and too cost intensive), but now, the dollar is the only chance to bring back the money: The politicians can either take the money from You, by devaluating the dollar, or by increasing the taxes. First the dollar goes down, and after the next election, the taxes will go up.

Good luck to America

Thomas

You can't have it both ways - and those statements were barely 20 minutes apart.

At a list price of $5,200 the SA looks (and is) ridiculously overpriced against the competition. Do they sell out, sure, but not because people are climbing over one another to pay $5,200 for them but because Breitling are controlling supply to make them seem more in demand than they actually are. I'll freely admit that they are a popular model, but value for money at that price point, not even close.

The Aeromarine case is the cheapest Breitling case to construct (deliberately) in order to keep costs under control and a COSC certified modified 7750 is going to be barely 10 - 15% of the cost at volume pricing and production line costs.

The increase will be 4-6%, no word if it'll be straight across the board or more on specific models.

My point is roff almost none got at full list, but more like 10-15 off. Not the crazy deals people here expect. Superavengers are the most flash for the $, that's why they are the most popular. If you think Breitling holds back distribution or manufacturing to make them
More exclusive you are high.

Wrong. Panerai went up April 1st. And a good amount at that. You people can't blame Breitling because the dollar is weak. Should they continue to sell $100 for $80?

I suspect it's 5% across the board. We'll see

We'll agree to differ, but thanks for the personal comment.

Incidentally, between 2008 and 2009 (the last two years that figures are available), Breitling cut production by 55% - official COSC stats.

Don't think an AD has ever accused me of being on drugs before................

I find that hard to believe with some of the weird ass watches that you like :poke:

As to the SA, $5200 is just ridiculous. The aeromarine line was supposed to be their value line but with the price increases I don't see much value there. A modded movement in a ridiculously large case doesn't equal a $5k watch, but that's just my opinion.

Nope, just wholesale. Retail didn't go up a penny. Confirmed this through numerous sources... Have you?

Maybe you should step away for a bit? Calling people "high" and spouting mis-information....Just chill out..

Just as Fleet said, retail prices did not go up for Panerai.

I think Provident can use this "high" thing. A once a year - "We are all stoned and making crazy deals" sale. I'd go.
