Interesting - they actually consider the GMT movement to be a different caliber. The writer says the Caliber 04 is a variant of the 01. Is having two calibers the same has have two different movements?

I think with romans the face would look WAY too overcrowded. Looks crowded just with the batons.

Admittedly, I tend to not be a fan of romans to begin with.

You're maybe right.

And what if it will only exist in batons?

Everytime I see this thread I get pissed off. Why 47mm?! When I heard about a GMT Chronomat I got really excited, I like the B01 a lot and I love pretty much anything with a GMT but anything over 45mm, and that's pushing it, is just too big for me. And it's not like I have tiny wrists either, they're 7.5". Oh well.

You're maybe right roman, we'll just have to wait and see one in metal I guess.

Only a few hours to go now....

The B04 won't technically be a new movement, but it is a new calibre. The B04 is a B01 with a GMT module attached to it - i.e. two calibres produced from the same base movement. Just like the ETA 2983 and 2984 calibres are both ETA 2982's with a GMT module and a chronograph module attached respectively. The B01 is Breitling's base movement that will allow potentially a number of calibres to be developed.

To take Breitling's non-in-house range as a futher example, the ETA 7750 is the base for Breitling's B13 and B24 calibres.

I would assume there's also perhaps a B02 (a non-chronograph) base movement in the works, which will then also spawn a number of additional calibres no doubt.

Just as an aside, Roman, I'm surprised you find 47mm too big on 7.5" wrists. Mine are only a little bigger, and anything up to 48mm fits just fine. All a matter of personal preference though I guess.

I know, I'm weird. Bigger watches fit me, the SA fits me fine, but I just really hate the way they look. The only reason I like my 45mm PO is because it's a bit thinner than other big watches. Then again maybe I'd love it if I saw it in person. It's so hard to judge watches based solely on internet pics.

Those new pics do look really nice. That black eye gray one looks like it could be a winner. The only thing I don't like, other than the size that is, is the 4 different fonts between the sub-dials, the bezel, the date wheel and the rehaut(sp?). I think that's a bit much but nothing new to the B-01.

I should clarify, I was thinking more with AD discount (although probably not as much since it is a new piece). I guess realistically with discount: $7.5-8K? I really can't see people paying more than that; any higher price point and it's competing with higher tier watches.

Might be best to just wait and see.

The more I'm looking at this (and I'm looking at it a lot as I really love it!), I'm starting to think that maybe, just maybe, 47mm may actually be too big given that the Chronomat 01 lugs are quite long, especially when compared to something like the 48mm Motors for example. :? I so want this to fit well, because I really think it's a fantastic looking piece. Definitely not one to buy without trying on first IMO. I'm keeping everything crossed that it'll fit nicely without the dreaded "lug overhang".

I think you hit the nail on the head. The lugs spread out quite a ways. I guess my problem is that I don't think I have seen anyone complain about the 43 as too small. The way the watch shows, I think it's about perfect for the case style. I'm not there yet either on the bezel, though I have had the tabs catch occasionally. That's one reason why I got a two-tone 40. But the 43mm blue face stainless with silver-white registers is on my radar.

Saw it in metal yesterday.

Three colors were exposed: Onyx black, Metallica brown and Blackeye blue, two on bracelet, one on OR.

I have to admit that it's not bad looking but my Chronomat B01 looks really tiny in comparison. Guess I'll have to try one to see how it really fits.

Even though it only exists with batons, I would consider it. I love that huge red arrow.

I really like the concept of the GMT on the Chronomat, however... :guns: 47mm..... NOPE! Doesn't do it for me!

I know it is a nice happy medium between the original Chronomat and the SA, but it that what the Avenger is for? The 43mm was perfect and set it aside from the larger watches nicely. BREITLING needs to get off the bigger is always better bandwagon. WINDRIDER and AEROMARINE Series should always have that separation and I think this is flirting to much with the Aeromarine line.

It shoulda remained at 43mm!
