Er-just a note to 2nd hand archie the debt collector. Please don't call me a wimp. OK so you're a debt collector-I'm a former parole officer commended for bravery by a police divisional commander. Dealt with a lot of bad guys in my time. I'm keeping this respectful for the moderator. I know how to wind a watch and I don't appreciate name calling. We'll call that quits. Lets talk about watches in future.

Hello again,

Archie has (after quite an eventful start to his time here on the forum) since apologised for a few of his earlier posts, as have a couple of other members for their responses, so all is well again and harmony has been restored in the land of Breitlingsource! :)

All water under the bridge now, so as you rightly say, let's get back to the watches!

That's great-thank you. My Breitling Intruder is about to lose all battery power (digital display is dimmed, watch stops if you press the function buttons) so I'm about to get the battery changed. I'm told that the bracelet (professional-1998 model) is no longer made,-its a bit worn, so I'll happily replace it with a leather strap when/if it fails. Meanwhile does anyone have any knowledge on replacement movements/digital units for Intruders? Unlike a navitimer automatic movement, the digital unit will I'm sure eventually die. I'd like to think i could get it replaced-I hope to have another 40+ years ahead of me and I'd like to keep the Intruder ticking as long as I do!
Any ideas?

Failed quartz movements are going to be a problem. Already Breitling have stopped producing parts / replacement movements for early quartz models and if / when they die all that they will be able to do is offer you a trade in value against a replacement watch.

Seems this thread has come to an end-so I thought I'd give it a nudge. Jewellers (Mappin & Webb-UK firm) were totally supportive and gave 100% customer service. My replacement Navi runs like clockwork (ha ha) and no issues-I'm told navi's 'settle in' over the first few months if you keep wearing them-mine runs about 6+ seconds a day at the moment. I have a Tissot 150th Anniversary Automatic Chronometer (yes-I know the navi is superior-hence being 6x the price) but the Tissot (also COSC certified) ran an astonishing +1 second a day from new.... even my quartz Breitling Intruder gains a bit every day-usually about 1-2 seconds a week. The Tissot is a real 'dress watch" but surely Breitlings Autos can be adjusted to run like the Tissot (I have a replica Navi which has no value so I took the back off myself (with a monkey wrench!) and adjusted the japanese auto movement myself. Now i wouldn't even THINK about doing that with my real Navitimer-but it occurs to me that if I can do it with a fake one, real watchmakers/jewellers should be able to do it with my real navi... Any thoughts?

Yes any decent watchmaker should be able to regulate a Breitling auto. You just have to ensure you go to a good place with all the right equipment to make sure they pressure test it once they reseal it. OK so WR is not a big issue with a Navi, but it still pays to go to the most competent place you can.

Ideally I'd always use Breitling for ANY repairs/regulation, but I recently used a Rolex AD for a regulation after Breitling wouldn't regulate my Steelfish without servicing it as well...... at my expense.
