I think it's about as appealing as having diamond studs on your teeth.

Diamonds would ruin the blackbird. The diamond bezels on the Chronomats look good, but I'd never wear one. I'm sure Ron will be along sooner or later and post some pics of his Evo.

The only diamond watch I'd wear is the rhodium dial Datejust 2 with the diamond markers.
Well, I heard someone call my name so I feel obligated to post in the thread...

First, allow me to say that just like the vast majority of respondents in this thread, in the past I too was firmly against even the thought of diamonds on a gent's watch, period. Whatever reasons I or anyone else utilized to dismiss the kitting of diamonds on bezel or dial remain purely subjective and well, quite personal it seems. In their own way, many of us express a concern about perceived masculinity or even a tangential relationship with parts of society distasteful to some of us ("gangsta look", rappers, entertainers, gamblers, etc., etc.) were we to wear joaillerie equipped timepieces. Fine. :|

2007, the year of my 60th birthday, I was seriously considering a new Chronomat Evolution to mark the occasion. The plain slate dial, black subs, stick markers model with black calf strap was the piece I described to my late wife when she asked what I wanted for my birthday. I didn't know it at the time but my sister had actually picked out the very same watch at a San Antonio AD (I live near Houston) and was going to gift it to me for the birthday. Before she could do that, my wife saw the watch I had described to her at a Houston AD except it had the factory diamond bezel. She fell in love with that watch and unbeknownst to me talked to my sister about it. Long story short, my wife surprised me with the diamond Evo (on bracelet. She knew I had plenty of OEM straps) for my 60th. To say I was taken aback is an understatement. I suppose I was remiss in not telling her beforehand how I felt about diamonds on a gent's watch. Maybe she did it because her Breitlings had factory diamond bezels and MOP diamond dials or maybe she did it because she simply liked the look of the watch better with the factory diamond bezel. I suspect the latter. Seeing the look of delight on her face when I opened the box (you can imagine mine as well) ensured there was no way in hades I was going to express anything other than love and gratitude for the gift. :lingsrock:

Here's the rub... I immediately fell in love with the watch too! I was so amazed at how stunningly beautiful that darn watch looked! Strapping it on my left wrist, it took about three and a half milliseconds to realize my preconceived notions were, how should I say this.... pure BS. (That isn't for "Breitling Source") I still don't care at all for "over the top" adornment or aftermarket diamond bezels but when tastefully done (IMO) such as on my slate Evo I have to say I really enjoy wearing and using that watch especially knowing it was given to me with such love. I'm well secure enough to know if others harbor negative feelings for whatever reason about my wearing the watch then that is their problem, not mine. I really and truly do not care one iota. Although my beloved B-1 receives the most wrist time, I do wear the Evo almost every day as well. I honestly don't think of it as "showing off". I just think it looks great even with the frayed jeans and T-shirts I wear most of the time. Goes well with golfing attire or a suit of course but still fun to wear just "asslin' around" as my wife used to say. As an aside, I also enjoy swapping out many combinations of straps and colors on that watch if for no other reason than to use as "props" for the photography hobby. :D

Anyway, now that I've belabored the point way too long, below are a few earlier wristshots of the Evo. Still think it's "girlie" or "gangsta"?...
Best,
Ron

That's a really clean looking Evo, I've seen many pictures of it and I think it's beautiful every time I see it. The combo with the UTC is killer, but no matter strap or bracelet this is definitely not a girlie watch, although some woman may like it who knows. I would wear it for sure.

Thanks, Matt. :) Wait a minute... Maybe it IS "girlie"! I just now remembered I had these older pics of my only granddaughter cleaning it and kitting it with a camouflage Bund. :!: Oh, well. Start 'em early I always say...
Best,
Ron

Amazingly cute pictures. My kids have no interest in watches whatsoever right now, maybe unless they had video game watches or something! Actually my youngest son, he's 8, has a digital watch I bought him at an airport, he wanted it because it lit up. Played with it a few days now it sits at the bottom of his toy box.

Thanks, Matt. Well, they certainly grow up fast... :( She turned 11 two months ago and now it seems she has embarked on a career as a musician. Here she is playing some "chin music" on opposing batters (Object lesson here - don't crowd the plate.)...

Back on topic.. Here are a couple of B01 Chronomats configured like my Evo (3rd pic). If Breitling ever decided to put a display back on either of those two polished cases I think I might have to consider pulling the trigger on one but which one?... :?:
Best,
Ron

You must be proud! If it were me choosing, I would have to go with the black eyed grey dial. I have too many black dials as it is, however the black onyx dial with Roman numerals is very nice too. Tough choice, but you couldn't go wrong with either one IMO

I voted with no, but in fact, I did not read the question correct. My "no" stands for a man wearing a watch with diamonds, but I like ladies wearing a men's watch with diamonds. My sister for example wears a Transocean Chrono 42 with black dial and diamonds on the case and the bezel at the moment. That is something to support...

Diamonds on watches are not for everyone. I don't like diamonds on every watch but I think diamonds on a super avenger is ok with me! :lingsrock:

I say start them early as well.

unequivocally NO. for the same reason i don't wear a six inch mercedes star around my neck, it just ain't my style nor is it something that appeals to me.

but hey, it's your watch so do it up however you like. i am certain some of my colleagues feel i'm nuts for owning several decent watches but i don't care because when i'm wearing my babies i feel good!!!
