Some very helpful information there from thelynchmob4 that certainly helps to manage expectations. It's not an easy process and there are clearly still numerous hurdles to negotiate.

For example (and I don't expect answers to these questions here!), we still don't know what Breitling will actually let us do. Will they let us use certain models for this LE? Will they let us have coloured sub-dials on certain models? Will they only allow certain colours? Will they entertain the concept of display backs on autos? And obviously then there is the ever-present cost question.....

The simple answers to all these questions are that we just don't know yet...... hence patience is required.

And just to play devil's advocate here - is the red SOHC really a done deal at this early stage? To be honest, I'd say it's not. I know a stake has to be put in the ground at some point, but as I said above we don't know at this stage if Breitling will be prepared to make it. There is little point in pinning hopes on one design if it turns out that Breitling turn the concept down.

Roff has now very kindly produced a draft of a BreitlingSource profile which is another step on the long and winding road. I'm sure a timeline for decision points and key milestones will be forthcoming once the process is a little better understood.

Patience, patience, patience folks!

I agree about the Le Mans. I personally love that watch but its way to expensive for our LE. Besides which, since it was a LE already I dont thing Breitling would concider it.

About our selection of a watch.... I still believe that we need to stick with one of the lower priced models (without going to a Colt). If memory serves me, because of the MSRP, that would mean that we can easily narrow down the options. Example: I would really like to have a brushed finish EVO with a display back but that would price it well above $5k, expecially if we end up paying full list price from Breitling. Now if we can work out a deal with an AD (so we can get a discount) it opens up the playing field for a few more models / options (DB).

A few peoples have been pretty vocal about the need for a chrono, but I dont care. It makes the watch look better (sometimes) but few people actually use the chrono function. A non chrono watch would lessen the price as well.

I might be going on and on about the price tag of the "choice", but I dont want the selection to exclude 1/2 of the potential buyers (including myself). And quite frankly the more the watch cost.. the less wrist time it will get from me. I am already too paranoid about my EVO (my most expensive Breitling) geting hurt and I want to WEAR this LE!

How about a few rendering of different dialed Steelfish. That model is great for many reasons and would satisfy most peoples wants except for the chrono thing. I would personally like to see a bronze or dark red or orange dialed Steelfish rendering.

Well, while I'm sitting in waiting for a phone-call from the misses, I just thought I'd play around with a quick mock-up of my own. Not a Steelfish I'm afraid Bronco - sorry! - but a yellow dial SA! Now, this was a quick 5 minute job (and I'm clearly no Mario, when it comes to graphics  ), but I like the look.

Image

Basically, my reason for this concept is because I always liked the yellow dial/back subdial version of the old Chronomat Longitude, especially with a black croco strap. The colours are classic Breitling (yellow and black), and is in keeping with the tradition of yellow dials on the Aeromarine range.

Thoughts? Good? Bad? Hideous?

If we put all the info in the very first post, and i mean ALL the info, then no one has to read through any amount of threads to find the info for this Limited Edition proposal.

Since Aleister started this one I guess he would have to be the guy to do it..

Can't Roff add to that post as a moderator?

He can, but its not a good habit to get into editing people's posts regularly as its not the "right" way to go about things. It can create a habit of editing people's posts just for fun. It should only be done when there is a violation of rules or to remove certain unsavory elements.

Hello all,

I've been quite busy the last days, but as soon as I get some time during the weekend I'll try to complete the first post.

Love the colour combo, but concerned that it may be exclusionary relative to some of the others. SA is definitely a non starter because it's exclusionary for people who don't want that size as well as people who don't want two times the same watch - it's current popularity and relatively reasonable price is likely one reason why it wouldn't make a great LE (if people want one they have one).

Of course an LE on a backordered watch is also asking for trouble!!

All excellent points Roff, and I can't argue, but to be honest I was only messing around on the PC with this mock-up for my own entertainment - I wasn't planning to post it. But when I read Bronco's post about mock ups I thought "Why not". :)

I would buy this one. I've been a fan of the SA from the start, but others were saying it might be too big for them :?

I'll take one of these on a Black Ocean Racer :D

Or even a slate gray dial with gray sub dials would work!

Yeah the size is a no go for me. I wanted the SA to fit but I couldnt pull it off when I tried one on. Strangely enough the 6.75 fit! Wierd.

How about that color combo on a Avenger Skyland??

I was just thinking of a white dial skyland. Sweet!!

Anyways, I suspect that the biggest factors for many of us, including myself, will be size and price. As long as the colors and options arent too outrageous, I think most of us would be willing to compromise in that area. An SA is completely out for me (although I WISH I could pull one off), and im afraid that the 46 might be too big as well. Problem is, that there are just as many people who CAN pull off the size, so we may never really agree. Half of me wants to get in purely for the LE part of it, but the other half of me definitely wants to wear it regularly.

Steelfish, Chronomat, Skyland...these are more in my size range I think.

OK, last one of these I'm going to do. :)

Here is the yellow and black colour scheme on the SOHC -

I actually think I prefer this colour to the red and black! :?

(Would still buy either though! :D )

I like the black/yellow combo. That SA would be really nice. I am actually going to hold off on the blk/red heritage. If a black/yellow combination happens I might just be in. Nice photoshops Driver.
