Can't help feeling that ETA shot itself in the foot with this. Perhaps the Swiss watch industry/governing body was behind it. That's if there is such a thing....

ETA is taking out the competition and therefore ring fencing and promoting their own brands - Omega most notably. They argue that supplying other companies was not a profitable business for them.
