This is why I am weary of buying a watch online, even from an AD. I see plenty of watches everyday that I'd love to have, and can afford, but I want to have a relationship with an AD just for situations like this. My AD is literally a mile from my office, so that helps. When I bought my watch I realized that it had stopped about 1 hour after I got back to the office. I called my AD and took it right back to them. They ended up keeping overnight and all was well. I'm thinking I didn't wind it enough, but still, they wanted to make sure everything was fine.

I'm in no way saying anything bad about you or Govberg, and I really hate that this happened to you! Hopefully all will be well and you can start to enjoy your watch!

Jeff

Suggesting that you buy a watch winder is absurd. Flame the guy, :guns: he should be going to bat for you.

I'm sorry you feel that way, but I always think if guys get so up tight about cosc spec. watches, they might be better suited to a Quartz.

If you want to pay for things that don't work the way they should, go ahead. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with expecting a certified watch to operate the way it is supposed to. Remember, we're paying a double premium for certified watches: one for the movement grade, and another for the certification. If I wanted a watch that performed outside of specs, I could get a non-certified, non-chronometer grade watch and save quite a bit of money.

I have two. Breitlings and numerous other less expensive automatics. My Breitlings are both within cosc specs but more importantly have little positional variance
which is indicative of a quality movement. I would insist on performance from Breitling personally and insist they pay the shipping. Maybe send it to Breitling service in Canada they seem more customer service oriented.

I'm blessed to have a fantastic AD, and have had no issues with my Breitlings. Everything you pay for when purchasing a fine timepiece, from quality, to service, and years of enjoyment; you seemed to have been totally screwed out of. I hope this ugly situation is corrected by all parties involved, and you get to finally enjoy your watch. Best of luck, and please keep us posted.

There is an offer on the table to the original poster to send the watch to Govberg, with shipping covered, and have their Breitling certfied watchmaker look at it, or they can send it to BUSA on his behalf. George has sent the original poster an email and text, and even spoke with him on the phone, until the guy hung up on him. He said he sent he watch in 3 times to BUSA, not Govberg.

George and the rest of the staff at Govberg have worked hard to gain the trust and respect of forum members on here and they're proud to sponsor this site. They've literally sold hundreds of watches on here to members, and they're not going to risk losing business by not providing the same excellent service that I've gotten over the years to everyone else.

Correct, before everyone throws George and Govberg under the bus, let's just realize they weren't made aware of the problems until recently. The offer is out there to ship to them with no expense and have both their watchmaker and/or BUSA to look at the watch again.

Justin, I don't think any members here did that - seems it was more of a :wow, that's surprising" tenor to any comments.

What I don't see in the OP's posting of the email exchange, which he talked about doing early in the thread, was him telling Govberg the only time he doesn't wear it was in the shower. I think many would assume a watch might sit for long periods of time. We've had plenty of those post before.

Anyway, it is a crappy situation for the OP. Were I him I would take advantage of the the offer from the AD with a caveat - no more shipping to BUSA. Either the Breitling certified watchmaker can resolve it or it is time to discuss a new watch.

As for hanging up on someone, never a productive course.

I don't want to throw anybody under the bus, either George or the OP. That said, having personally dealt with George on several occasions, I believe any (alleged) lack of good customer service on his end was purely through a misunderstanding of the full scope of the situation. The OP is understandably frustrated, but that frustration appears to be have been caused primarily by BUSA, as well as the watch itself. George was only recently brought back into the situation, and he now appears to be trying to make good. Hopefully this will bring a resolution to the problem.

I think when people say that the OP should "fire the shit out of the AD," that's sort of throwing him under the bus. Regardless, the whole situation sucks and I can assure the OP that the situation can be fixed. Personally, I wouldn't hang up on someone who is offering help but that's just me.

No excuse for rudeness. I had a frustrating run-in with BUSA, and unfortuantely my AD was caught in the middle. Even though i was very frustrated, I always remained courtious when voicing my concerns. Everything worked out, and they still get my business. Still doesnt change the fact that this situation has to be very frustrating, and I hope it works out.

Speaking from a business owner point of view. I'm advertising and selling this product. If it were me it's my job to stand up for the customer if in fact this is a manufacturer issue. Its up to me to hammer them until either something is done or you can find some kind of middle ground. If Breitling leaves their dealers hanging out to dry then shame on them. I've been out hundreds of dollars before thanks to vendors and while I dont enjoy being burned I always make sure my rep gets a ear full.
