I ventured in to other brands - JLC, IWC, Panerai, Zenith - and while there is no denying they all are both aesthetically and technically appealing, they just never did it for me. I get more of a kick out of wearing a $3K Fish or $4.5K Cockpit than the watches I've owned costing 3-4 times as much.

Funny you left ONE brand off of your list...

Well, I'm glad there are no over-reactions about this watch....

I'm not a huge fan of the design, but I don't think its the worst thing I've ever seen.

I don't think folks are comparing this to the entire population of fugly watches, rather to breitlings and our expectations of Breitling design. Were this watch standing alone, the reaction would be negative, but in light of the other blunders, they have reached an inexplicable low in my book. It's like being witness to a 100 car pile up on a foggy freeway. Just when you think you've seen it all, some other poor sap slams into the pack at 70mph.

As John said it best, "Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse..."

Thinking maybe I should have saved this in anticipation for a new Blackbird... but I can post it again!

PS... I think the last driver was taking a wrist shot of his Tag the moment before impact. WTF-B

I had been considering selling one of mine, however if this design 'style' is not a fad, and if bad design is what is demanded by breitlings future Market I can only see my current collection becoming more desirable.

Anyone else noticed the price of colts/SOs/oceans going sky high on the bay?

Look at the date window, just look at it.

"Hello, here I am, I wasn't really made to suit this watch, but they put me in here anyway, no relation"

It's like they put a normal guy on jersey shore, and just let and let the poor thing drown in crazy.

Overall, it isn't just a tag, it's a cheap tag, like an old F1

Truly sad. My first Breitling was a Colt Quartz, early 90s. I then upgraded to a Colt SuperOcean automatic in 1997. I had that watch for 10 years. When I joined this forum in 2007, I was on the lookout for a new Breitling. Since then, I have gone through many models, including 2 Steelfish, 2 Seawolf and the first Blacksteel, the Skyland. Now I have none. I really don't like the "direction" Breitling is going, if you can call it a direction. I guess theirs sales figures tell the real tale for me, though. Guess I am not one to tell them how to run their business. Their numerous Limited Edtions are getting very tiresome, though. To the point that having one of their LE watches is meaningless.
Anyway, this is one of the reasons I have gone over to mainly Rolexes in the past year or so. They manage to keep beautiful, quality timepieces without bowing to the trends. I admire them for that. Some may say they are overpriced, but when you consider how long they have had their own inhouse movements, and what Breitling is now charging for theirs, to me there is no contest.
Just my take on things. I really wish I had kept my 1997 SuperOcean, though!
Cheers,
Carl

I'm very sad to see the reborn of the Colt with such an inconsistent and badly executed design. But on the other hand, it makes my trusty old Colt II Quartz look even better. I hope one day I can find my way back to Breitling though. Until then, fortunately there're plenty of new brands to consider, e.g. Bremont. No offense, but for me Bremont became the new Breitling, while Breitling became the new Invicta.
