I think if you buy used then there are still bargains out there... The lowest price i ever paid for a Breitling was £100. A Pluton on Pro... worked fine but was covered in paint. I restored it and kept it for 5 years. I have never bought a new one and could get my money back on any of 'em.

I will only buy Rolex new... and only certain models.
I do think prices are getting silly for the ETA based models and if you want an in-house movement like the 01 you can get CHEAPER Price [better value?] with Rolex!

I think they are on shaky ground.

I know that some or most of you have long histories with Breitling - including relationships with various AD's. I know FEAR works at an AD.

So what I was wondering is if anyone has expressed these concerns about Breitlng to either AD's or even Breitling reps...and if so, what the AD's and/or Breitling reps have to say about it....I mean, are they aware of the discontent among long time Breitling aficionados? Do they even care about this discontent? What do they say?

Thanks,
Mike

Breitling is still moving a ton of watches, the reps & ADs really don't care how we feel because we (bsource members) are only a very very small sample of the breitling buyers in the marketplace.

My AD is definitely concerned.

They are finding that their regular buyers are not attracted to the new pieces, and because they don't have a lot of comparable brands (they have UN, not Zenith anymore, after that it's things like Raymond Weil and Oris) those buyers are going to other stores for other brands.

There is some new interest in the newer pieces, but new buyers are always harder sales than repeat buyers and according to them the new designs do tend to be polarising. They have also said that the new pieces tend to appeal to a younger demographic, but the increasing prices reduces the number of younger people who can afford / are willing to spend that kind of money.

The brushed Chronomat 01 has helped sales according to them, and Navitimers are holding up - more LE Navitimer sales than LE Chronomats, and Bentleys are holding up.

This latest one is a currency adjustment, I haven't heard of it affecting Canada at all.

FEAR told me that the SS Seawolf on a ocean racer deployment is up to $4000 flat, from $3865 when I bought last week. I would guess other bracelet configs would be similar in terms of the delta. Thats about 3.5% for the US peeps.
