I've seen plenty of valets with rigid sides that stay up just fine without snaps. If snaps are required to hold up the sides of the Breitling valet, I have to think it's by design, thus making the snaps essentially ornamental.

I'm sure there are molded (formed, whatever) valets out there, and I know for a fact, there are ones that have relief-ed edges that flex, making some way to pinch the corners essential. And I am sure if you soaked this one in water, snapped the buttons, laid it out in the sun for a day, and unsnapped the buttons it'd stay rigid just fine. But, given the scores along the edges between the sides and the bottom, I am banking on the fact that the buttons secure the sides up.

Now someone kick my ass for actually having this conversation. That's it, I'm done for the day.

I guess instead of, "why snaps?" the better question would be, "why did Breitling choose a design that required snaps?" I don't dispute that, given the design, the snaps perform a function. All I'm saying is there are designs that obviate the need for such a function, and given that Breitling still chose this design, I would say the consideration is primarily one of aesthetics.

Consider your ass kicked. See you tomorrow.

It was said earlier in the thread, that the snaps are most likely there so the tray can be folded flat for travel... I was going to say it but I was beaten to the punch.

46crew did it come delivered "flat" and you "snapped" it together to display it?

Snaps/studs are probably for travel so that it can be transported flat packed in a case or a travel bag???

Nice though, I like it..

I don't remember what it is... If someone have access to the Breitling server could see what that gift is used for.
I have the copy of 2010 catalogue of gifts that my local AD gave to me at home. So I'll post later what exactly that is.

I think we already figured it out. And you bash Ling Man for not reading people's posts?

You don't have to modify your belt... just be careful when you give advice in a thread about a thread, maybe you should be taking it as well!

Ok, I'm done ball busting for the day

breanach78, it came already snapped together in a box. I guessed it was some sort of tray, but hadn't seen one pop before in any discussions. :)

Point taken. However, I do think there is a difference between me overlooking one person's speculation in a long thread as to the purpose of the snaps and Duck's evident neglect in reading the thread as a whole before responding to the OP's question.

You clearly read and write English well enough to have been able to see the OP's question had been answered by the time you posted in the thread. Your post indicated you hadn't read any of the posts prior to contributing to the thread. It happens sometimes, but the fact you were bashing Ling Man for not reading anyone's posts (not just yours) is ironic. That was my only point.
