As I have said previously, SL lasts for a long time, and comfortably through the night.

Just because you can't see the lume 'glowing' in a 'non dark' environment (and that includes what your eyes are accustomed to seeing) doesn't mean that it's not working.

I would think that different models have different amounts of lume applied. Some thicker and some thinner. Thinner hands on some models can only accept so many layers of Lume. What about the ones with the gas cylinders ie Luminox. Do they last all night at steady brightness?

Luminox are amazing and maybe the best of luminosity.
they last all night, sure and they don't need any charge.

Sadly I think I must be the only person here who preferentially checks the time on my iPhone overnight rather than any of my watches

edit: whoops... Google search led me into resurrecting an old thread. Sorry!

I was also charging my watch every night before going to bed. One night I purposely did not charge it and guess what......easy to see all night! The lum is getting charged continuously from various light sources during the day which I know is obvious but a super charging is not necessary so I do not do it anymore. But Roff is correct visability is based on your eyes adapting to darkness. Go out one night in a very dark place and look up at the sky and then continue to watch and se how more and more stars become visable the longer you stay in the dark.

If you have an I-phone there are free flashlight apps that you can use to charge the luminous.
