just a notion or two. Random electro-chemicals bouncing among the synapses. Wow, I must get some sleep.

I've got 7, but that should jump up to 8 this week when my Superocean II arrives.

A friend of mine has about 60 watches, but are all $1K or less. Seems kinda ridiculous to me. I'd much rather have a few nicer watches than 60 average ones.

I personally would agree, but each to their own I guess. One of my mates who has around 5 or 6 decent watches (IWC's, Omegas etc) is now looking to sell the whole lot for a Patek Phillipe Nautilus. Not sure I'd do that, but it's just an example of "horses for courses" I guess. (And of course I am looking to change my collection to a totally in-house set-up soon).

I absolutely hate the look of the Patek Naut. Now My gf's father bought this Patek in platinum and it is absolutely stunning. Wore it for a day and was hooked. http://www.wristwatchreview.com/2006/01 ... dar-5960p/.

Just never understood the Naut. Is there something more unique about it movement wise that the 5960p doesnt have?

Like someone else said, the right number is whatever works for you. In my case, I'm more of a wearer than a collector, so I don't want watches that just sit around. Most I ever had was 10, right now I have a Breitling plus 5 others. My hope is to downsize and upgrade to the point where I have 3, maybe 4 truly nice keepers (he says as he's trolling the forum sales corners  ).

Very true. I got married seven years ago and there's still crap that we didn't open in my garage. A watch would've been much more useful.

I just e-mail my wife links from the buy/sell forum. That's how I got my Blackbird and I also got the question "Why the hell is that Panerai $3500?", she didn't get my explanation but she did like the Zenith.

Gym, I have 5 decanter sets in my garage, I'll send you one for your wedding. :poke:
