Part of me is toying with the idea of selling some of my pieces to add this one to the collection.
It really does look huge though - time to go to an AD that has one so I can try it on.
At least you'll see very few people with one on in the same room as you.

It has actually gone up to £3150 which is hardly worth mentioning.

It's a similar story with the Avenger and Super Avenger which have gome up to £4290 on a bracelet, from £4160.

The Avenger Seawolf is now up to £3200 on a bracelet, from £3070.

Any word on the availability of the Aerospace Evo? Can't wait to see this one.

I'll bet they sell many more than the E1, just because they are going to market it to a bigger pool of buyers.
It's not just aimed at pilots anymore.

I agree that the on-line marketing campaign is pushing a "not just for pilots" line of thinking, but I still think the size and cost will be prohibitive to most. I honestly just can't see sales being anywhere even remotely close to the E1, let alone exceeding it.

I guess time will tell though!

I disagree, I think it will be a massive failure both due to its cost and its massive size. Just because they're marketing it to a bigger pool doesn't mean it's going to equate to stronger sales numbers.

It´s a statement piece. Both, from the maker and the wearer! :) It´s absolutely massive and ridicilously expensive, but it still brings Breitling to it´s roots. It does look great and there are a lot of people going to buy it just because of the look at my toy factor.

Allso as the watch is very extreme in every sense of the word, it´s only suitable to market it to extreme sport enthusiests. Most of those guys love to highlight their way of life in everything surrounding. Like in their choise of clothes, shoes, jewelry, transportation (cars, bikes, boards etc.). Just to bring it all into interesting conversations.

So if Breitling succeeds in that market, which they seem to be targeting, we´ll be seeing these around and that´s a good thing IMO. They´ll never reach the volumes of earlier E´s (because of size and price), but I don´t think it´s they´re intention anyway. Hence the price?

I bet It´s mostly for marketing purposes and to show everyone what they´re still about.

Well, Breitling stated that they have been selling 2000 E1s a year.
That is probably the assumption they have taken into their calculations to set the price of the E2.
Ultimately, 2000 pieces a year expectation is probably not such a huge challenge given the huge global network of ADs around the world.
Ultimately this probably equates to one or two deals per AD ON AVERAGE.
With a bit of right push, it may not be such a hard target after all.
Time will tell.

Having around 1 in 70 Breitlings sold be an Emergency when it's priced at a few thousand dollars is one thing, having 1 in 70 be an Emergency at $15,000 may not be quite so easy!

Selling only 2,000 / yr is surprising.
How many Rolex subs are sold each year?

For what it's worth I thought you would like to see the Emergency II on my 6.5" wrist with a comparison shot of the outgoing 43mm Emergency.

It was explained to us at BaselWorld that the size of the Emergency II is as small as it can be given the technology that resides inside.

This has now become a true hard core piece of equipment and not just a wrist watch. I absolutely loved the way the Emergency II looked, except when it was on my wrist :( .

I do believe the Emergency II will be comfortable on a larger wrist because it has been ergonomically designed.

Also, here are a couple of shots I took of the Emergency II on its charging station. We were told that the battery will need to be charged once every 2 months, or so.

I really like the look of the watch but agree it is a large watch and not every wrist will be able to accommodate one. Don't take any offence Ricardo, it does look quite big on your wrist but probably does on 70% of adults wearing it! As you say any publicity is good publicity and as with other outsized watches, it will sell - just perhaps not in the quantity of the original Emergency

If it´s 2000 per year then the first year is easy to achieve. They´ll push for every AD to have one in a showroom and it´s exceeded already. And as a new awaited model in the first year they´ll sell some. It won´t take long before we see the first ones here, I´m sure. The next two years will be more challenging though.

But as the price is that high Breitling doesn´t need to sell as many for the same turn over and profit.

And as John said it. All it needs is the right rap video and the game changes. :) Considering the E II size, maybe we´ll see one hanging on Flava Flav`s neck??? :D :D :wowzers

A couple of years ago I tried on a similar sized U-boat. I was very tempted but the sheer height off the wrist was my concern. This watch looks a tad thinner/lower, might work, but there's no getting around the price!
