For all of you who are freaking out that the new SO doesn't have a lume dot or pip...I must say dive computers are pretty much the standard these days and dive watches aren't as necessary as they once were.

With that said, would it kill Breitling to put a dot at 12?

Well yes, no sane diver would ever trust his safety entirely to just a wristwatch these days so the need for a pearl is not so vital, but it's nevertheless a good backup and the lume is simply expected on a professional divers watch, much like a unidirectional bezel. As with anything safety based it's better to have it and not need it, than need it an not have it. The SO is now a fashion watch.

This can't be called a Diver's watch - it fails the ISO 6425 standard which states that "the set time of the time pre-selecting device" (the unidirectional bezel) "shall be legible from a distance of 25cm (9.8in) in the dark".

I read on the Breilting Website several times that the SOII was the current in a line of Legendary "Dive Watches"
Going from the quote from Roff above couldn't it be said its a bit embarrassing for Breitling and to put in in lay mans terms a bit of a F**K up?

Indeed and the source of my spring of discontent.

Today I purchased a "proper Breitling" for which Breitling SA and BUSA have long since been paid. Might as well get one while they exist. It was in essence my version of a revenge ####. Felt good too.

C'mon Shark...what did you pick up?

I didn't have anything from Breitling on my radar, but now I am thinking of picking up one of the discontinued models while my AD still has some new. Might be time to pick up a SOSF or the Ti Seawolf like Ricardo did. My AD had 3-4 of those last weekend.

anyone else notice this? right now, breitling has 68 current models of head, doesnt cont diffferent metals and options.

then they release 11 and discontinue what...3? how many models are they gonna have?

According to another source (on TZ) they discontinued or are in the process of discontinuing 17 models, with some of those being replaced with the new 01 movement models (such as Navi 01, etc.) and others experiencing a re-design (chrono SO II, etc.).

Have to wait and see how this all falls out.

Yeah I think FEAR was being facetious in that he knows about the discontinued models, but to look at the website, Breitling gives the impression all the models long since out of production are still in the fold. They even put the Evo style chronomat back on the website.

That 1461 for me, love the movement, love the size, would hope to see some other dial colours though, that would be stunning with black dial and silver subs or all silver.

I was surpirsed to see all 3 dials on the Steelfish sitting in my ADs display. You aren't going to see that at too many places. But I didn't get the Steelfish. Picked up something with black dial/silver subs and the classic Breitling style and bezel.

And as to the reaction of ADs - while I won't reveal which AD - but one is mortified and stepping up talks with B&R and IWC not to replace Breiting, but as a hedge. A direct quote - "I can't sell the Superocean IIs - they just sit there! Now I'm supposed to move a 42 AND a 44mm version of the same watch??"

I'm sure Breitling has it all figured out. After all, the company prides itself on not doing any market research. Obviously if they build it, we will come.

Post subject:  I knew that Breitling was gonna discontinue the Legende....

Glad I picked this up when I did, as well as the other two (regular silver and black) in two-tone that should be landing at my AD this week. Man that was a close call. Granted not the most popular models (integrated bracelet+47MM is tough) but I think they will become nostalgic staples, especially after Breitling "Buckfies" the navitimer line.

While some of these are pretty unimpressive I have my eye on that "Flying Fish" I think that the colour combo with the B01 dial goes very nicely... does anyone know if they stamped "Flying Fish" on the back of the case? (I truly hope not)
