I don't think the magnetic field is strong enough to cause damage to a watch.

There's plenty of evidence that the magnets in self scan checkouts will do it, so I'm sure that scanners could.

And remember, a very slightly magnetised balance spring will have a huge effect on the ability of the watch to keep time accurately.

but no permanent damage right? just could be de-magnetised and regulated and your good or no?

Jeez, do you not read the wonderful technical series that Roff writes ?

Magentising does no permanent damage, just requires a trip to the AD for degaussing.

Not to disagree with Roff, but I have to walk through airport metal detectors about a dozen times a day. Been doing it for about a year... I usually have my Seiko 7S26 on, and it continues to keep perfect time. (Well, its a little fast, but it was running a little fast for years before it ever went through a metal detector...) When my B-2 comes back from BUSA, it will be the daily wearer, and I'm sure it will take the same abuse just fine...

I understand from Cardio Tech that I can go through the newer scanners, but some of the older ones have a stronger magnetic field than others? So It's best to avoid them altogether.

They can set me back to factory settings and make me jump about like a mad thing.......!

:uplaugh:

That level of magnetic field would definatley screw your Breitling....!
