Also entirely possible that the winder is bi-directional but the watches need just one direction, in which case they are only getting 988/2 turns per day which wouldn't be enough for any Breitling.

This thread may help, if only for a link to the Orbita website with reliable numbers - viewtopic.php?f=6&t=23867. Of course if the winder isn't delivering the claimed rotations, which is entirely possible with Heiden as sharkman says, then no setting is going to help.

Heiden is a nicely packaged cheap Chinese made winder. In terms of reliability it is on par with Diplomate, formerly Garmin (name changed because of the awful reviews). I had a 12 watch winder. It wound CW, CCW, and bidirectional. There were TPD settings, but I don't remember exactly how they worked. Here is what I do remember - in one week two winders were shot. 4 by the end of week two. At one month there were about 4 of 12 working and I threw it out. Some online stores sell them for many times the price on the Heiden website. Make sure they are really turning and check that you don't have it set on bidirectional if you need CW. Other than that, I hope your experience is better than mine. All my attempts to find good inexpensive winders went awry. Wolf Designs somehow makes theirs work even though the motors are Chinese. Two years in both the 8 and 3 watch models I bought are running perfectly and infinitely adjustable. They don't waste much on making the units look great - fit and finish is not their thing, but so far reliability is.
