I own examples of both, and find them all quite nice. Certainly, with a company as storied as Breitling and it's connections to aviation, the flight jackets seem much more appropriate. Having said that, the newer brown/deer version is quite nice in the cloth, if you will.
I certainly understand it's not everyones cuppa, but just like all the versions of our Breitlings in the Chronolog, taste is a personal matter.
I own a full leather version of the Alpha Industries/Breitling jacket, and I have to admit, the old man in me enjoys that one from time to time, especially when I pop out for a pint.
I, too, own the green version (non-leather, of course), and it accompanies me when I walk the dogs on chilly days and trips to the range.

I also have the leather/nylon jacket seen in ads, worn by Mr. Travolta. I had the chance to wear it during an event he attended, and not being a pilot (God knows I've jumped out of enough perfectly good aircraft in my time), it provided a nice connection that lead to a rather long chat about, well aviation. I have to say, he really is a nice guy and quite personable. He is an actor though, so bear that in mind.

Finally, the newer 'deer' jacket. While attending the Reno Races, I noticed that a lot of the younger bucks (please forgive the pun) were wearing jackets akin to it. It reminded me of the later 60's and early 70's, with the racing snap collar versus the traditional ones seen on flight jackets.
Also, my young students seem to think it looks cool. No accounting for taste with teenagers...

Fast forward six months, and Breitling has one as a gift. I asked a friend in Wilton, and she made the connection, as well, stating that Breitling likes to keep abreast of what pilots are wearing. Besides, it was a welcome change to what they'd been doing for years in the relationship they have with Alpha.

Hmmm, it seems as if I've prattled on. Sorry, old age does that to you.

Warmest regards,
-jbbb

Proof, not that any was needed, that fashion left me behind about 20 years ago

I like it to be honest.

It must be a British thing, because I prefer this newer version too!

The shiny nylon on the older ones always put me off.

:yeahthat +1

I'd just like to add one more small comment: I appreciate anything and everything the good folks in Wilton send me. I did not mean to sound jaded in any way during my previous post. On the contrary, I get that 'little kid' feeling when a package arrives on my doorstep from the good folks at Hangar 7, and by no means would I ever look a gift horse in the mouth.

Ted, just a quick bit of advice, be careful posting your email and telephone numbers on the forum as the info can be scraped up by auto bots and spiders and then passed on for spam use etc, it would be worth ammending your email address to include something like I've ammended above.

And I've just edited your original post for you. :D

The best way to get people to contact you is via a PM on here in the first instance. There's plenty of time then to give them your contact details.

Oh and the best place to post a "Would Like To Buy" ad is in the Buy/Sell Forum.
