Come on Mark, there's only one L in Walgreens. I wouldn't be so offended if I didn't work at their corporate headquarters.

I can confirm that COSTCO Canada is selling Rolex. Just go to the website at www.costco.ca. Furthermore a Breitling is a Breitling no matter where you get it. The watch doesn't care who sold it. And my experience with COSTCO with respect to customer service for warranty or poor products is admirable. They take anything back well past warranty with no questions asked. It's all about price for most people. If you would rather pay more for the same thing at an AD then go for it. You know what they say "a fool and his money are soon parted".

Guarantee you that if any AD came up against a Costco that Breitling would probably authorize the AD to match the price, give the customer the correct warranty, and smoke Costco's ass on the deal...

I can see it now... Honey I just bought you this beautiful diamond ring from Costco...

There are some things I will buy at Costco or Sam's Club every day. An item such as a Ling or something with an emotional tie to it would have to come from an AD.

Just my 2 cents...

Like Admin, I've seen Rolex, Omega, Tag, and a few others I can't recall. If the price is right, I'd have no problem buying a Ling from Costco. I know that if there is a problem with the watch, I can walk in there with the watch, and walk out with a pocket full of money, no question asked.

I don't think it cheapens the brand at all. My Costco recently started selling Volvos too.

Omega, Tag, Movado and others are 50% lines... Breitling and Rolex are not. Even Costco and Sams Club are going to make some profit. And remember folks in the USA if something goes wrong with the watch the first two years, no warranty work will be performed by BUSA if purchased from a gray market dealer.

But if Costco will hand you back your money 23 months later if the watch crashes... Might as well give em' a shot!

I guess I'm just not a gambler. I like a sure thing, and don't like what if scenarios. Heck, it's tough for me to turn loose of hard earned dollars even in Vegas.

Here is the problem here as I see it. Soon there will be no AD jewlery stores. We will all be going to impersonel Big Box stores because we can save a few dollars. This is what is turning America in a land of strip malls with big discount anchors. The same thing happened with neighborhood hardware stores when HDepot ran them out of buisness. Yes, you can save a few dollars on nails but eventually you change the entire culture of your area. Why don't you see small neighborhood markets? I am all for healthy competion in the market place but a small neighborhood shop can not compete with a WMart. It relys on loyal coustomers that understand the value of maintaining there neighborhood culture. We may see this more in Az, we had lots of open area and the "mall" mentality has run rampent here. It has nothing to do with the money as far as I am concerned. I would much rather spend a few extra dollars in my neighborhood than support the Big Box Mentalty. So every time you purchase a "specility item from a Big Box you move one step closer to having them as your only option. How would it be to take your Ling to Macys to have it regulated? IMHO...

Who cares where the watch came from. If it bothers you that a watch came from a store like COSTCO, then tell people it came from an AD. Problem solved. If you took a Breitling from COSTCO and set it next to the same model from an AD I would defy anyone to pick out the one that cost less. It would be a guess that's for sure.
As for the big box stores encroaching on small operators, well that's just normal market place change. Remember at one time people had to go to the general store where they sold everything. Then someone specialized in say "hardware" and another in say "clothing". That spelled the end to the general store. Box stores are just a sign of the times. Some people have trouble accepting this change. It's normal progress for the human race. That being said I don't like malls but I can't change the way the wind is blowing. I've heard people state they would not shop in a mall only to see them sneaking there a week later.
If you're in a hurry to spend more money for the same item, why not buy the less expensive option and give the money saved to charity if you are in a big hurry to part with your cash.
