I think a new battery + pressure test shouldnt run you more than $100--likely less.

its more than 100 usd....
-battery
-Seals
-testing
.................this is don @ AD and not with watchmaker (non-ad)

Somebody had it done either here or on another forum and I think they said that they paid $75. Its really only a short process.

EDIT: btw, iirc, it was for an Emergency.

Couldn't have been through an AD if it was an Emergency - they have to go back because of the Dassault transmitter, so no guarantees exactly what was performed beyond the battery (or the quality of the battery for that matter).

Fair enough. Id have a hard time swallowing a $500 service every 2-3 years for a simple battery change. If I had an E I would probably just have a good watchmaker who knows Breitling take care of it.

I'm not sure a regular watchmaker would be very comfortable with handling the transmitter mechanism. Sure, the transmitter sits below the case, but there must be some couplings that goes into the case? You wouldn't want to accidently set off the transmitter while performing "watch surgery".

It amazes me why people would devalue a watch by skimping on maintenance ! If you want to do that the Emergency is the last watch you should buy... If you buy a new Mercedes G class you do not take it to Cooters auto repair to get the maintenance done, you take it to Mercedes and get your service book stamped. Same should apply for a watch like the Emergency.

@gert you are right

if you have a breitling pay the service you need for a breitling so it will keep his value ...

when you think its to much buy a swatch or a casio..

Like I said befor my M1 had a battery and new puls-sensors and i paid 560 euro for everything
when I heard that price I thought wauw :shock: that much....but when I sold the watchs it was like new and I got the money I wanted because when a Breitling is serviced by AD it keeps its value..

@mark
if you want a M1 buy one its a awesome watch love the yellow one :lol:
and if you dont like all the extra battery thing problems buy avenger chrono ti or seawolf if you want a titanium breitling..
