That was my thinking when I saw the rubber insert and also a ceramic insert on the Rolex. I can, a service center can, buff out a metal part but the other substances are not repairable. Sorry for the overreach on the part of luxury watch companies but unfortunately they all do it. I wanted to buy an Airborne bezel and ryders and swap them out with the bezel on my Chronomat 44. They wanted, through my AD, $1,000.00 +/- for it. Needless to say, I did not go for it.
