I own an SOSF but if i didn't, I'd look at the two of them, compare the WR and the price of a 2012 SOSF second hand and go with that every time!

True for some I guess, but a lot of folks will only ever buy watches brand-new.

A lot of folks just walk into a shop thinking that they should have a look at some Breitlings.
They eventually see the Colt, like the look, like the price, buy it and walk out.
The sale was made because the both the product and price were attractive.
Something that can not be said about the current Colt.

44mm? Well crap for me! Am I missing something or is the only smaller, as in 40-42mm three hand the frigging Galactic!? Yes, I am intentionally excluding the Superoceans.

I know, it's completely insane. On a related note, the new mainstream omega master is 41mm, and the new rolex deep sea is 40mm. Both are brands more deserving of my money at this point.

Also, regarding new vs used, remember the golden rule: anything you buy used that's smaller than a toaster has at one point been up someone's ass.

The colt auto is very very nice. Old school looks with rider tabs, nice looking bezel, and well balanced. At 44mm I should (hopefully) be able to pull it off. It's going to be the second Breitling I look for in stores once they're released.

I'm excited to see the chrono w/ silver dial on blue rubber and the auto with blue dial on bracelet.

The movement in that chronograph is one of the more legible analog timers since the elapsed minutes and seconds are displayed with center hands.

Currently I have a blue SOSF, but like the dial and thinner bezel on this new auto better.

Here are some photo links to two Basel booth shots from Katzle:

Am I in a minority by suggesting that I would have preferred the Colt Auto with the Quartz dial (ie numerals at 6 & 9 instead of the batons)? I don't know why they couldn't have had that as an option (and vice versa) on both models. I agree, also, that they would have been better sized at 42mm.

That said, however, both are a welcome improvement on their predecessors.

Taking a broad styling cue from the old (ie pre-Tag style) Colts I think, on which the auto had batons and the quartz numerals.

44mm? I'm out... They do look really nice though. My CSO has started to look VERY big on my wrist, and that's only 42mm.
