I've heard a Blacksteel SuperOcean chrono is on the way. How original.

And I'll bet those 'less expensive' models won't include the in-house movement, but will be just as god awful ugly.

Breitling's problems is NOT the cost structure; it's aesthetics. If they would simply revert to the old school chronomat bezels their sales would pick up in short order.

This morning my rep came by again. Was talking with him afterwards about the brand and asked if he could already give me some more info about Basel. Well, he told me already what we know but I got a few extras as well. First of all, there's gonna be a SE Chronomat for its 30th anniversary with guess what, a new bezel! This is gonna be a test apparently to see if this bezel, which will look more like the old ones, will be liked by the public and if so, that particular bezel will be implemented in the whole line... And also, the overall design of the Colt will change, again going back to the previous model with a modern touch... Can't wait to see them. I have a meeting in Basel the 31 of March.

Both positive signs. Clearly the public has voted with their wallets on the current Colts and while the newer Chronomat / Galactic bezel has grown on some it is still a very polarising design.

:yeahthat And wasn't that basically what 99% of us here said right from the outset regarding the Colt and the Galactic bezel?

Yep, though to be fair if Breitling hadn't been so arrogant as to ignore public opinion any focus group could have told them.

give us some premium updated old style models I think they will win back everyone as long as the b01 is really ready for primetime.

give more continuity in model naming and resale will improve I think too.

Man.....I was a couple of days from pulling the trigger on a Transocean Chronograph/rg bezel. Now, I owe it to myself to wait and see what this bezel looks like.

It's good and bad news....good, because if we can get something like the 'old' chronomat bezel on the B01, it will be a massive aesthetic improvement and I think really goose sales.

It will also be freaking *terrible* for my net worth.

Well if they want to increase sales, it would seem they need to make more diamond bezel super avengers! Was talking to the local distributor and rep yesterday and was informed that remains their best seller in South East Asia.

Still want a Chronomat 41 with day-date or Simple Full Calendar (maybe also equipped with fly-back feature)... Improved escapement (balance bridge, balance with screws for fine-adjustment, silicone escapement parts) would be also nice. Hope never dies.
Oh yes, and please give (back) the day-date on the SOC (with ceramic bezel!!!), the AvengerII. and the SOHC (possibly 40-42 mm, also with ceramic bezel)!

What is the fascination with the day-date feature?

Justin,
IMHO many need this (daily changing data) feature: people who are already in pension, thus not working on a daily basis, people who work on a different schedule on each week-day (a. o. that's me) and people on holidays and thus not knowing permanently which day is it (sometimes that's me too) and not wanting to use handys for this. And people who prefer the better dial balance (that's me too) or simply enjoying the additional feature. I think it is so easy to produce both versions (date or day-date) at the same time, if a manufacturer wants this (Sinn, Tutima, maybe others too did it). There are some good name brands that usually put day-date on their 7750-s. (Alright, others do not.)
I refuse to buy further watches without day-date (chrono) in the future. (I have a handful but that's enough for me.) And I think that many think the same way, it would be good to produce watches for these persons too. This option to choose between date and day-date versions could sell more watches and production costs nothing, not more than - say - choosing between dial colors.
Just my two cents of course.
Best,
Robert

I was just curious since I know you're so passionate about it. I do think that the old chrono superocean would be a great watch to reintroduce.
