That would really be quite something.

I think I would have hung to that one too!

Reminds of something which occurred a few months ago in my shop. A client of mine bought a Rolex Datejust in 2003 witch Arabic numerals on the dial. The guy wasn't a real connoisseur and never brought his watch in for service. A few months ago he came in my shop and asked me to look at his watch. I looked and kept looking but didn't see anything strange. He said, look at the dial so I did and suddenly I saw the problem: the number 10 on the dial stood where 11 should be and 11 where 10 should be. The guy never saw it in all the time he owned it. I called Rolex and they told me they would replace the dial with a new one free of charge but my client didn't want that. He said he's the only person in the world with a watch and dial like that and he would leave it as it is. He just wanted me to show the dial. And with a smile on his face he left the store...

I had a client with a very similar issue, only with a different brand of watch. Quite extraordinary how these things pass quality control!

Indeed, but to be honest, the guy didn't see it for 10 years and if he wouldn't have told me to look at the dial, I probably wouldn't have noticed either... So the people at QC probably also looked over it... Quite extraordinary though to see it on the actual watch.
