Once when I was in Vegas, I had my Navi with me, and while I knew it should not be submerged in water, I didn't feel like leaving it in my shoes or something when I went in the pool, so I just wore it swimming. Thank goodness nothing bad happened, and the watch was fine afterwards, but I wouldn't advise taking the risk.

After a few years, I grew tired of the Navi because it seemed too delicate for my lifestyle...I wanted a watch with at least 100m water resistance so that I could take it swimming on vacations and also with a bezel that could protect the sapphire glass crystal better. Ended up with the Crosswind Special and have taken it to vacations...even a water park without issue. I'm very happy with my choice, but the Navi is def a beautiful watch.

30m WR means it's been tested at the equivalent pressure at 30m.

Key missing word - static water pressure. Any movement of water relative to watch adds to the pressure.

Yes static pressure. BUT movement adds negligible pressure.

Well we can argue about what 'negligible' means - holding a watch under a faucet running at full volume, diving into water, etc, etc will result in more force than simply swimming. Regardless, a watch tested to 3 atmospheres is not suitable for swimming under any circumstances!

Only my titanium M1 goes anywhere near water, including the beach and pool. It then gets rinsed off under tap water. Its also my beater, and now 8 years old. Still looks great :-)
