I actually like it, but I do not live in an artist rendered light box world so it'll never actually look like that on my wrist. I like the font, I don't care for that square thing, why not a sunbusrt like the SOH? The square thing makes me thing of the Pro line a lot. I was actually just eyeing this over on Breitling's site before I saw this post. And 41mm isnt for me, give me the 44 or bigger.

If they brushed it, and ditched the square in the dial, I'd consider this a winner. I'd even accept it if they'd just use the same square as on the 44, where the corner of the square disappears into the date. I really can't stand the fact they actually turn the shape into an irregular pentagon with that "sawed off" edge. It takes an already questionable design feature and makes it worse. Too bad - this could have been nice.

Tough crowd.

I dunno...either a person likes the current Breitling styles, or doesn't. Clearly the brand is in a polarizing phase right now, and since this watch really offers nothing new, it was inevitable it would also be polarizing.

As for being "tough," I'll point out that there are lots of current watch designs I drool over. It's just that most of them aren't Breitlings.

Probably to boost sales by targeting LE "collectors".

But I guess that everyone who received that mail had the same reaction of "not again?" .

Undoubtedly so, but making the exact same watch (albeit polished) in a fractionally different size just seems odd to me. It's like the pre-occupation Breitling have with making a whole range of Blacksteel watches, all with red accents. The original one was quite cool (if you like DLC)..... just a shame it's originality suffered from being the first of a whole series.

As I've said before it seems to me that Breitling have a real scatter-gun approach at the moment, and when something sticks (i.e. seems to sell OK), they latch on to it and milk it for all it's worth. I think most people admit that the Chronomat 01 LE was generally pretty well-liked, so Breitling have obviously thought to recycle the same idea again.

As I say, nothing inherently wrong with this model - just a strange (and lazy) choice for a "new" version.

They just need to stop the faffing about with coloured hands (and the DLC paint pot), and get on with producing a 3 hand in-house movement to put in a proper Submariner-challenging diver's watch, and putting the B04 in a Navi World case to produce a decent-sized GMT Navitimer. That's all, and dare I say "End Of Discussion".
