According to someone posting on Timezone as username "BreitlingUSA," this is what they say:

- All watches equipped with an in-house made caliber (example 01, 02, 04 and 05) will receive a 5 years sales warranty from the date of purchase.

- The warranty is retroactive as of Jan 1st 2012. All other watches will maintain a 2 year sales warranty from the date of purchase.

That backs up Wessa's report. It makes sense, too. Some of the earliest 01 movements are already out of the warranty period. If the owners have had to finance their own repairs during that time, and Breitling extends their warranties after the fact, that gets really messy for the company. This way is much simpler, even though, as I said before, it potentially sucks for anybody who bought an 01 prior to this year. Also, it might indicate that Breitling has worked out some of the bugs, and they're confident that the latest round of movements is actually made well enough to warrant a five-year warranty.

Justin - Thanks for passing that along. It would be nice if Breitling would just come out with the full policy and put this to bed. I guess I just don't understand how the business world works.

It's a shame that they couldn't have found a way to offer broader coverage. But as JacksonStone said, it would get very messy.

As others have stated all in-house movement five year warranties are retroactive back to January 1, 2012...

But don't worry if you bought yours last year. It's a Breitling, you will not need it :-) :-) :-)
