At the rate they used to drop out of the sky in their prime, I think I'd pass on getting on another one.

Probably showing my age here but flew on Connie's twice as a kid across the Atlantic. 1st one was a Flying Tigers and this TWA from which I got a nice certificate. Boy those were the days when flying was a real treat.

Maybe so but this one is exceptionally well preserved. It just came out of a 9-month overhaul.

There is nothing quite like that sound.

Flying one is at the top of my bucket list. I just need to fly down to Stallion 51 and drop enough money for the ride.

My late father-in-law was a P-51 flight instructor in WWII. He could talk about it for hours.

Maybe it is time for a Connie B01 LE ?

Do it. Flying a P-51 is special.

It was always kind of neat at Airventure. Warbirds would come and go all day, but when the P-51's fired up for a group flight, and started to taxi, you could see all the heads turn toward the sound.

Agreed! The Merlin has a sound all of its own. Only thing to better it imho is the sound of the 4 Olympus engines in the Vulcan when it produces that unique howl. Sends a shiver down my spine every time I hear it!

Does the fact that I totally agree with you Sharkie means we don't get any younger? :whiner:

I have to say that if I hear that gorgeous sound - I expect and want to see it accompanied by a Spitfire :brit . It makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck :superman:
