I'll go against the grain - you work at a law office with a conservative suits at all time policy. The Breitling SA and the Panerai are toooo big for that attire. A DJ2 will work, so long as it doesn't have any yellow gold on it - the one you posted has a white gold bezel, so that's fine, while I might choose a different dial option.

But the DJ2 doesn't seem to work with your non-working lifestyle and other activities. A GMT Master IIc or even the Subc would work perfectly at the office with a suit or outside of work on the go. Don't let the "Sport" designation fool you - these work just fine with conservative suits. The cost is the same (basically) as the DJ2 with the SS bracelet.

THe SA? NO! Too big and all bling. The Panerai - A posibility, but I always found mine looked out of place with a dress shirt and business suit. And chances are it won't fit neatly uner your shirt sleeve.

Of course all of this is just my opinion, but also happens to be 100% correct!

Might be a first seeing a DJ and SA for a this or that.

To be honest I can't understand why something in the middle like a Rolex sub is not on the radar. There's many nice watches that can give you a good balance, so why go to the extremes. Even a B01 would probably fit that criteria.

I think if you buy one of those you'll soon be looking for something else. Maybe that's the subconscious master plan. :D

First thing's first: If you go to Hawaii, carib, europe, etc 4x a year....can you adopt me?

Secondly: Go with the Panerai. It seems to suit your lifestyle more. Enjoy changing out the straps a couple of times a day to suit your current dress and voila! Ten watches in one that will fit any occasion.

Pick the one you like best, go try them on and choose, OR take one less vacation during the year and buy two out of the three...

I just want to say thanks to everyone for all the thoughtful responses. I never knew buying something as "simple" as a watch could be so frustratingly difficult. I have tried on all three watches on multiple occasions and each time I try them on, I leave the AD knowing exactly which one I prefer, and then, I come home, start thinking about it, get on the forums, and wham!, I'm suddenly torn again!!

I do think you guys are correct in that the SA may be too big for an everyday watch. The paneria is a little smaller but still a bit thick for everyday "work" wear. The straps make it very versatile but for true versatility, if I decide to go with the panerai, I may have to get one where a bracelet is also an option (for me, that is the one drawback of the panerai -the lack of a bracelet), i.e., maybe the Pam 328. Of course, this raises the price by a grand...

As for the rolex sports models, they have never really appealed to me. I think it is probably the bezels that I don't care for. Maybe I should be more open-minded and really consider the gmtii or subc, but I think I would be settling for something I'm not crazy about and may soon thereafter regret my purchase decision.

Was thinking about heading back to AD today, but I know they are tired of seeing my face and not the cash along with it...

I was in the same boat as you last month when I bought my first Breitling. I couldn't believe how indecisive I was! Everyone in the local AD I was dealing with knew me well because I was in and out so much. I too was a bit worried about them getting annoyed of me but honestly, its best not to worry about that stuff. Take your time and enjoy whichever watch you decide.

I got a brushed finished blackbird myself. I'm not a fan of Panerai and Rolex and the (discontinued) BB is in my opinion one the most versatile Breitlings in terms of what you can wear it with and where you can wear it. However, I've since decided I need more than 1 nice watch and am probably going to get something bigger and share the time between the 2 watches. I'm sure once you get something, you'll want another watch sometime sooner or later. Probably sooner

You could also consider the Panerai 297 and 299 if you want to pick up a Panerai.

I think Sharky's on the money here. One of the Rolex sport models or what about the Milgauss; now that is one corker of a watch!

wait till you get a few watches then you will end up looking at Rolex in a whole different light. i use to be the biggest Rolex hater, now im a subc owner and it gets most of my wrist time. i have owned the breitling motors t speed and super avenger. both of which had to go because they were just "too big". in place of those 2 i have a white dial chronomat with romans and a GT ice, plus a corum adrmirals cup chrono and guess what gets 80% of the wrist time.....the rolex subc. shark is right, it really is the best all around watch. you really can not go wrong with subc or gmt 2 c. those pieces cover everything you are looking for in a watch.
